Wow! what a brilliant interview, both Tahj and Josephine were fantastic and clearly at ease with each other. Thank you to Josephine for sharing such personal memories and experiences, also for being so responsive and warm with fans on IG. I'm in awe and so impressed with Josephine's determination to speak English and become more fluent for the acting roles - it's not easy, so well done! I wish both Tahj and Josephine the best for future projects. I'll definitely keep following you both and look forward to future series and projects. Brilliant interview, loved it! 👏👏😍❤️🥰

Luckily I accidentally found this podcast. It's really good. Definitely going to watch/listen more. Nice to hear the stories of Josephine. I only wonder if she would consider returning to Death in Paradise if she could play , not the assistant but the inspector? Love to see everyone call Florence Sir.

Since so much of Saint Marie is French speaking, I wonder why theyve never highlighted that for Florence (not to mention Camille or Madelyn). Great interview!

I know lately there has been buzz about wanting Josie to be the next DI and thought I love josie on the show I think the whole schtick of the show is that the DI is the quirky character, the stranger in a strange land if you will , which gives the show it's character and it's up to the DS's to take care of them

Lately? Since Marshal left ;)! To her credit she's supported the schtick consistently as the main function of the shows success every time she's been asked about becoming the DI but now at Season 13's conclusion with her leaving again the fish out of water approach is getting a little old & questioned a little more. The supporting cast are excellent, beloved & no one would want anyone to leave (Tahj was a blow that Danny softened)but it's going to be 14 seasons & the question come's up, how long can the schtick work. Could they even shift up the schtick without affecting the supporting cast & the answer's usually no with any show. No one would want them To Try Jumping The Shark but even Ron Howard's pointed out Happy Days carried on for years afterward & people are wonder how could DIP do that ;)

It was interesting that Joséphine said that she preferred the rhythm of English for movement in comparison with French which she said was more monotone. In 1981 a French law was passed opening up the FM radio band to new French stations (les radios libres) on FM. Listeners could hear modern French pop and not the cover versions of of British and American records, which were so popular. For a cover version, try "La Vie est Comme Une Cigarette" by Sylvie Vartan (also known as Sheila Easton's "Nine to Five"). It was obvious that the French could make their own popular music in French. Vanessa Paradis with "Jo le Taxi" and Desireless with "Voyage Voyage" were two that were big sellers in Britain. I remember hearing one French presenter, Maurice Achard, on France Inter radio who said that the French language or accent was not really suitable for pop songs or rock. He was proved wrong after the 1980s. You don't hear these cover versions now. Incidentally going back further to the 1950s, you can hear a very good pop or rock British TV show called Oh Boy. This is before the Beatles in 1959. You can find some videos of it on KZread. The thing to note is the music was almost all cover versions of American records. That is what Britain did in the 1950s, Craig Douglas, "Only Sixteen" for example. How did it change? Well this is my idea. In 1960 Britain stopped compulsory military service for men. All the new groups of the 1960s were too young for military service. Elvis Presley, an American, did military service in America and they said that he was n't quite the same after military service, less liberated, less wild, less sexy perhaps. Now the British groups who had n't done military service were perhaps more popular with American female fans than the American groups who had done military service. America did not stop military service until 1973. After that the British and American groups were on equal terms. You also have the explanation as to why the British male groups were popular in America in the 1960s but not the British female artists. British female artists were on the same terms as American female artists in the 1960s. Neither did military service.. In the 1990s British music producers had the idea to re-create the 1960s with some male groups who had the look, the hairstyles and the music which ressembled that of the 1960s, even though the groups were too young to remember the 1960s. You know a few examples, Oasis, Blur, the Blue Tones etc. They did n't do so well in the USA as the groups of the 1960s. Different times, different ways. The ultimate difference was the arrival in the 1990s of the all female group the Spice Girls, who were nothing to do with the 1960s who did very well in the USA.

It's unfortunate the French Actors/Actress's don't mention the name of there French projects because IMDB is limited on European movie & Tv listings! Neither Martin's or Jobert's full credits are covered. Here in Canada French projects are accepted as there's a lot of bilingual folks & there's multiple French channels broadcasting news, sports, talk shows etc. all day! For those who aren't bilingual there usually subtitled as a government service.
