the way i interpreted the mv was that the play, where she's wearing the black wig is what the audience is expected to see. a happy relationship, straight out of a kdrama. however, behind the scenes, her acting partner/partner doesn't pay attention to her and treats her like shit. blonde taeyeon is the real taeyeon, her real emotions. in the end the toxic relationship is revealed, but everyone focuses on her while he walks away unscathed. the crowd throws thorny roses, representing stones and they scar her while he stands there smiling and clapping. the audience are simply spectators to their relationship, they don't actually care about taeyeon's feelings. taeyeon, because she is a woman in the korean industry, has all the spotlight put on her, and her faults while the man stays clean of accusations. another interpretation of the lyrics is that the line "can't control myself" is kind of sarcastic? throughout the mv she showcases emotions of happiness, sadness and anger, human things but the man shows none of these, only clapping at her actions as if she were a spectacle. emotions are often described as womanly and womanly is seen as less and therefore showing emotions is weak. he calls her crazy because she "can't control herself" when really she's just being human and expressing her feelings. i hope that made sense lmao

This was such a wild but accurate interpretation like you are totally hitting all the thoughts I wasn't able to put in words. The way she smiles at the end is like sadly smiling cuz no one really cares that it was real or sees her pain, it's all a show to them.

i got chills finding out that taeyeon's scars were from the roses thrown by the audience. 5:27 look at her nose. the details.. this MV is DEEP...

Would love for you to check out her second studio album Purpose repackaged version (all her albums are great but this one is my fave for sure) before the 3rd studio album comes out in February! I’m so excited to see what direction she will go in for this one because her past 2 full albums were so different from each other but still masterpieces!

this is my favorite out of the many releases yesterday. I feel like your interpretation might be more accurate. I kind of took it like they might have been having a relationship or even broke up as actors in the background of the play and it's impacting her emotions while he's totally indifferent which is driving her crazy. My favorite part is the end where everyone is just applauding while she's trying to express her feelings maybe it's about how people don't always take women seriously because "she's just being too emotional".

Cause it seems like the guy in the MV doesn't provide her any care besides guilt tripping and manipulate her.. *The intro verse said:* "Like a grown-up Who grew tall but is still a child Your insincere words Made me choose feelings That I can't handle Right, it's Too late To reverse the scar It's too late" Once she got into the toxic relationship, it's hard for her to leave.. that's how I interpreted the song and MV

Honestly loved this so much, I always love seeing her explore different sounds 🥺 she has tons of music and I love them all so honestly whatever and wherever you start would be great! Her album comes out in February~ I think it’s a full album which I’m super excited abt ✨😤 there are so many different theories~ like I’ve seen one about it just bei ng about Taeyeon herself- like how he technically didn’t do anything he was just part of the stage and didn’t technically interact with her. It’s her stage self compared to her real self. Also saw a toxic relationship and how the outside doesn’t see the reality…etc

my personal fav theory comes from form of therapy and it’s that taeyeon slowly becomes obsessed with her costar and at the end she unalives him because she can’t control her obsession. definitely an out there theory but i love the creepy ones!

From what i've getting here is taeyeon is in a toxic relationship with the guy who is in the play too,on stage they showing what real couple is but in the backstage or in real life their relationship is toxic and in the end of the music video taeyeon is losing it and the crowd think it is still part of the play but it is not and..so i think when the curtain is closed that is the time that taeyeon killed the guy because his being toxic to her and thats what we getting in the first scene in the mv

i think in real life they are in a toxic relationship but both are actors and have to act nice for the play, she is totally into him in real but he treats her like nothing and when he acts nice and holds her in front of the audience for the play ...she forgets everything they have in real life and couldn't control herself but fall in love again with him but she is trying to control her emotions in real ...so yea she is hurting herself doing this
