Taekwondo Fight Analysis! How to Fight as a Smaller Fighter-Covering Teemujin of Mongolia!

Спорт

Main Take Aways + things to watch for in the video-
As a smaller fighter, you must be physically strong.
On the offense - your first kick is simply to negate your opponent's front leg counter. You MUST follow up after clashing, otherwise, you're risking getting scored on without giving yourself the opportunity to score.
After the clash - You can punch, double, use your momentum and go to the head in the AMAZING way Teemujin does it. (WAY Outside Crescent Kick).
When you're too close to kick - you don't always have to shove FORWARD - Shoving UP works very effectively to displace balance, then make sure you're following up.
Defensively: Make sure you're dictating the pace of the match using some footwork and getting right on the line. Note: You don't have to go in every time, but it should look like you might to keep your opponent guessing.
If you're a taller fighter - some counters as seen in the last fight covered -
Make Sure you threaten to the head! (Alternate defensive and offensive head kicks - they have to come into it EVENTUALLY).
After the clash, make space right away.
After the clash, follow up/ expect to kick right away to throw a wrench into the offense.
After clash - if possible- close the distance immediately to where both of you are too close to kick and be ready to drop center of gravity if necessary.

There are so limited sparring strategy videos available on KZread. Yours is by far the most extensive! I just started search for sparring tips against taller opponent after coming from getting a beat down by a tall person, then I realized I was making all the mistakes a shorter person shouldn't. Hopefully you have more tips you can share with us in the future

Average Joe sorry I didn't respond to this. It seems like I don't get all the updates when KZread says I get comments. I'm glad I was able to help! If you got more questions - comment them in the newer videos so I can get notified (hopefully!)

1:52 I bet he could do a 190° side split... Wondering though why Russia didn't do a single hook kick, seemed like he had numerous opportunities...

How placing your hands in your oppontents armor doesnt count as pushing fault? I remember i fought with a taller guy and lost because of faults :P like i was not pushing, just trying to gain leverage to get my leg reach the head

It's a rule that happened like 2017/2018 I think. If the fight was before that or the ref isn't updated then they would have called it

@@KrisTheCoach Yeah actually been some years now from that fight. So good to know that rule changed. I'm also amazed at how these guys punch hook into body and get points. When i was taught punching only in a straight line would get you points (maybe where rules too. Idk)

@@ashes4821 I'm actually amazed too. That started coming about end of 2019 I think. It's never something I used but I saw it starting to get popular as I was on my way out haha. Tkd is weird now
