the difference is made by the riders (team managers) attitude, I don't not why, but in the Giro they act like coward speculators. My country offers awesome paths and landscapes, the rest depend on the teams/riders.

@@DjelQc nahhh... tour de france a lot of times placed a beast tt (climb-tt) in the final stages (for example TdF 2020, stages 20, when pogi defeated Rogla) but in the all previous stages the riders battled... I don't understand why when they arrived to my Italy they act like zombies. I'm very sad.

What a first stage this was; the fans (although in some places they were severely restricting the width of the road which made it impossible to overtake on the climb in those areas), the terrain, the series of climbs and descents, winding through the small towns of this majestic part of Spain known as Euskadi (Basque Country), the weather, the views, the discipline and concentration in the peloton, the big teams, the individual brilliance of many riders, the road surface and absence of dangerous road furnuture (for the most part at least) - all made for an unbelievable start to the tour. Such a pity to lose Enric Mas and Richard Carapaz though, I hope they recover well. Pogacar showing he's going to put the pressure on already, which was expected anyway. The icing on the cake was the brilliant final 5k pull away and finish by the Yates twins, Adam and Simon. How can anyone not be a fan of the TdF for life after this mouth-watering opening stage?

Adam being "co-captain" is just tactically for the media, as he said in interview after the stage win "its all in for pogi the next three weeks" Jonas should, as for now, keep an eye for pogi. If Adam is still in top three in week two he defo should keep an eye on him, but for now jumbo can sit in the shadow and wait for the best moment to attack the yellow. Going to be exciting to see what Skjelmose brings as well after Tour de Swiss, Tom pidcock as well in the mountains, the netflix series really brought that in so good. See you tomorrow

Last week I wondered about the poetic justice that might occur if UAE put the pincher movement on Jumbo in a reversal of last year. And it has already happened ! It was not particularly impactful, but the longer Yates stays in GC contention, the more likely it is to happen again - and with much greater consequences. Jumbo not bringing Roglic might really cost them here.

Great team tactics by UAE. Yates attacks, Jonas can not follow because he has always pogi on his wheel. So Pogi and Jonas neutralize each other a bit. And so Yates can probably attack several times during this TDF and gain time. One minute I was watching some streamers launching fireworks, next thing I know it’s 4am and I’ve been invested in this world of racing and the complexities behind it the last hour or so. I don’t know half of what’s happening strategy wise even with the commentary. But I’ll continue to nod and agree into more of it.

As stated b f, pogacar slightly slower than vingegaard on hc climbs, esp w heat. Stage 17 p loses approx 35 secs to v. P needs time, where? Time bonuses. P can routinely beat v in last 300 m of a climb, more explosive, and routinely in sprints. P goes for every sprint bonus sec he can ( breakaway doesn’t take all the secs) and all finish line bonus secs, every time, b c every time here he can beat v. He’s got 4 secs. Good haul today. He needs about 40 secs bonus to win tour 23 B c They’re roughly equal in tt
