If no officer with a whistle and flag, how about a flag on a pole exending above the height of the riders.

If you look at the video a Domestique of him actually seems to show with his head that Pogacar should follow him to the right, but Pogi for some reason doesn’t do it but rather stays in the middle and when he sees the obstacle he tries to follow Soler to the right. Of course at that point there isn’t really room for him anymore that’s why it got so close from my perspective. However of course the road furniture could have been marked better.

🎉Like I mentioned used to be man flags whistle hay bales to help stop them running into these centre road obstacles; in a crowded bunch doing speed you just can't see them; need height to help 😊

Can't they put poles or something on those obstacles? Something that can be seen above the riders in front.

Giro was far better managed..there was a person placed in most tricky spots. This was a very lucky escape for pogi.

This was a Peloton mistake. If you watch a relive of the situation, you can see the divider is not at all exceptionally dangerous. The divider was clearly marked, the centreline of the road was not dashed for the last couple of meters and even before arrows in the centreline marked, that overtaking (for cars) should be stopped. Clear indicators, that an obstacle like this is possible to occur for rider. These things are on the ground, where riders in the peloton can see them. Furhter the front of the peloton did show the obstacle to the left ( the front of the peloton went right), marking it with their arm, unfortunately this did not follow through into the peloton. You can not have a man with a whistle at every obstacle on the road, thats impossible. I also doubt, that a large pole might help here. On the contrary, a pole might fall to the side e.g. due to wind, making it an even more dangerous obstacle. It is the difficulty of road cycling, that you have to be careful almost 100% of the time, because situations like this can occur out of nowhere. If you take into the location: on the street next to Batiment Green Motoculture, 1155 Rte de Pont de Beauvoisin, 73240 Saint-Genix-les-Villages, France, you can see, that they took the largest streets in the area, but there are several roundabouts in the next km's with similar, if not larger road island. there cannot be a man with a whistle everywhere.

He avoided disaster and while doing that he caused ine for others. If there would be any other rider doing like Pogačar, everyone would be blaming him for causing rhe crash, even Pogačar himself would. When he is that guy he doesnt have even a face to admit nor to apologise to the riders who went down because of that.

Pogacar swerves to the left for some reason, and then back to the right around the obstacle, taking out several riders who were on track to make the split. It's clear Pogacar, for whatever reason, caused this crash. All the hype about what great skill this is is b.s.

He did not purposely move to the left. He braked so hard that the tyres began to slide by themself. The save after that instinct thing was great skill no doubt.

If you watch it closely the people behind him ran into the same sign, he was just the last one to dodge it. Didn’t cause anything. If you know the physics of cycling you have to move left if you want to turn right.
