Thanks LR good overview of what to me was a confusing stage at times - your summary of what happened seen as ‘memes” of the day was useful eg all day was Pog vs Jonas testing each other
Been watching racing for over 40 years, don't understand why Jonas Vingegaard got the same time as Pogacar. He didn't wreck or have a mechnical, so why would he get the same time as someone who finished in front of him with lots of gaps? To me it penalizes someone who takes the bull by the horns, even if it's not the smartest move from a safety standpoint or conserving energy for the mountains.

@@barbaroacosta5335 Kuss is missed for sure, but it's not like Kuss did that on his own constantly. Mateo and Wilco will have to proof their worth tomorrow in the climbing, and with how much WvA has been improving I'm not at all convinced he won't be able to have one of his signature high mountain days where he pulls his nose up on physics and science taking that big muscly body up slopes where even mountain goats have issues to follow ;) Ok that last bit is maybe not really likely, but I do expect Kelderman to have a good second and even better third week, like he always has if he doesn't crash and injure himself. Kelderman is on paper not just equal but a better rider as Sepp. Go to procyclingstats and compare, Wilco has three dips all related to major injuries and Sepp is very much below him on the ratings everywhere except last year when Sepp got the Vuelta victory from Visma. Kelderman was actually thought to have the quality to become lead rider, Kuss never had those results was always thought of as an ( excellent ) domestique. Mateo is mostly there to learn and taste, but I do expect some work from him in the next stages to do exactly what you're describing: start a stage so hard that they can isolate Pogi on the later climbs.

The original gap was no more, so instead of adjusting and potentially slipping through on his own he tried to create a gap for De Lie by smashing into Capiot. Though in interviews after Maxim somehow can't recall putting out his elbow and bracing his shoulder to hit Capiot, suggesting Capiot hit him 😂 It was a risky move given they were a bit behind and thus he needs to be aware that riders will be slowing in front of him and getting out of the way. The Tornado 🌪 😅😅😅
Pog believes he is stronger than Jonas. He believes he can keep pounding on him and eventually wear him down. Maybe he’s right. Maybe he’s wrong. Jonas is on the ascension. (Recovering from a disastrous crash, yes, but fresh in his legs.) Pogs has the Giro in his legs. Will the miles and stress begin to demand a price? What a great TDF!
I don’t dislike Philipsen cause I think he’s a hellava racer… I do disagree with his pre-relegation sprint tactics tho… having said that, I’m glad he got the stage win without swerving all over the road, but more so, he didn’t get any time advantage over anyone else in the top ten… 😂

I would disagree that it is an advantage that Tratnik joins the break with Yates. If he sits on Yates wheel and never pools it would further discorige other riders pooling with Yates sins they would know that they were binging a fresh Tratnik to the final. Think it was a mistake having him drop.
At 300 meters, Philipsen jumps at his right just fine, than he cruises at his left towards Wout. If Ackermann doesn't swing he probably gets collected. Likely the least dangerous movement Jasper has done in this tour, still WhatIfBouhanni

Probably 3km rule due to that crash at the end
@DanielHarveyDyer
24 күн бұрын
If there is a crash within a certain distance of the finish line on a sprint stage (usually 3, 4, or 5 km depending on the stage) then anyone involved in the crash or stuck behind it gets credited as though they finished with the group they were with when the crash occurred. Before the rule existed, General Classification riders would try to stay towards the front of the group in a sprint finish to avoid being caught in this exact situation, so the sprinters would have to weave their way between the GC riders and it actually made it worse for everyone. So they made this rule and now the GC teams only have to protect their rider until the last few kilometers and then they can drop back, ride passively and safely stop if they need to to avoid an incident, and let the sprinters teams handle the crazy slipstreaming nonsense at the front.
@ZnakeTech
24 күн бұрын
There was a 5 kilometer rule today, usually it's just 3, on uphill finished it doesnt exist, but pretty sure it was 5k today, where if any rider is held up by, or are involved in a crash within the last 5 kilometers, they don't suffer a time loss. Also gaps have to be larger than 3 seconds to count as a "new group" when calculating the differences.

JP is not the fastest sprinter in this tour. Is Bini, get your facts correct @Lanterne Rouge.
“philipsen shows he’s the fastest sprinter”?? brother the fastest sprinter was boxed in and wearing green.

More watts doesn’t mean you are quicker, or else Milan would dust Merlier in every Giro sprint. Despite that Phillipsen is indeed faster

I'm very sorry to burst your bubble, but Bimi wearing the green is because he's the most consistent sprinter this tour, not the fastest. I actually think in this sprint even Philipsen was strictly spoken the fastest, as WvA was put on the front to early, held in while Philipsen started pulling and from his draft still almost got there, couple more meters before the line was drawn and Wout would have had him he was still gaining ( so higher top speed ).
Jates? WTF?
am I here first???
POGI will regret it lmao 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 left Vinny cookedd on Stage 14. 😘💪🏾💪🏾

Tadej must have been given bad directions from team car. That is only explanation for wasting energy in the sprint. Not the first time UAE management have messed up.
Ayuso numbers??

The number 13 is considered unlucky, so it is tradition that the number 13 rider wears their numbers upside down to counter the bad luck.

You can literally see him lead with his shoulder. And the key word you said “he decided to go for the gap WHEN it was still there” meaning there was no longer a gap yet he still went for it. Selfish and reckless move
