    Those kind of whip are underrated but they hurt like heck. A flexible radio antenna of the same length can do roughly the same but you better have a good handle with a good grip if you want it to be effective (honestly cheaper to get one with a glass breaker handle).

    Hard2Hurt did a video on these whips a while back and they seemed highly effective. A cheaper alternative (maybe) is using one of those cable locks that you get when you buy a gun; hold the lock part and swing the cable.

    You could make a better tactical whip with stuff from the hardware store. Get a wooden handle, glue, and a piece of plastic-coated steel cable. For the practice version, add extra plastic at the tip. For the tactical version, remove the plastic 1-2 cm from the tip

    It's important to note that with whips you need the length to maximize the damage and pain output. With such a short one (given it's $30 not surprising) it makes sense that it wouldn't do as much damage as others in this category of self defense weaponry may advertise.

  • @irrelevantfish1978

    @irrelevantfish1978

    11 ай бұрын

    Yeah, you do need more length than that for a tactical whip to do its job, but that job should be all about pain, not damage. Honestly, if it's sufficiently thin and/or long to cause significant injury to pretty much anything other than the eye, it's also sufficiently thin and/or long to endanger the user.

    The best thing about this type of whip is you can easily make your own with a bit of a broom handle and some steel cable you can get at a hardware store.

    The value of this weapon is the ability to do followups and combos IMO. Even a small woman would do a heck of damage with this stuff to anybody if she just keep spamming like they would do with a purse. It's a natural movement and very violent, and although useless with a purse, it would be devastating with the metal whip. A regular batton is probably much better if you can keep the distance and just swing on the hand or knees, or do some 1-2-3 combos, but untrained people won't be able to do it

    I've had one for over 8 years. You'll get one or two maybe good swipes, it stings and disorients a bit. By that time, you have better turned tail and put some distance between you and your attacker. This is basically a sucker punch with a steel cable.

    The weapon concept is good, just that it's cheap. If most or all of the whip were aluminium then it would be a lethal or dangerous strike from any angle. But you'd need to literally hit a person from the tip of the whip every time. There are whips like that, but they cost a lot more money and are harder to find.

    As opposed to a knife which has very low stopping power(compared to a gun) and high lethality, this whip has moderate stopping power and low lethality. I don't like it because you should be focused on protecting yourself and not concerned for your attackers safety during an attack. Baton is much much better for self-defense. Gun would be best.

    Tactical whips have been reviewed by some legit self defence guys like Mike2Hurt and they will definitely stop anyone that isn't tremendously on drugs. Interesting enough, this is very similar to the weapon indian policemen use which is essentially a whip. I think these police men deal with people high on adrenaline quite often and their weapon is still incredibly efficient.

    Interesting channel. The stinger is way lighter, smaller, and cuts more. Their is a far bigger, larger, heavier variation of this kind of tactical whip. And that has even more thicker variations of itself. I have both. The stinger cuts. The bigger one i forgot the name too is built way stronger, and has a kubotan handle with a sharp glass breaker point in the end. But it has a thick cable, covered by a flexible, transparent rubber casing. That one hits hard. Packs more of a punch, then cut.
