This wasn’t the good old days of Conan. This was him trying to be more earnest to have broad appeal to the crowd that turned out for Leno (and eventually Fallon). The good old days would have had that guy come out, do a couple a twirls, fumble and chop someone’s head off. Then it turns out he’s the worst whipping guy in history. Plus he’s depressed and played by a guy named Brian. There might be a bear involved.

"Hey Jordan, have you finished your various tasks and duties?" "There is no limit to the amount of tasks I have to complete." "Whatever. We need you for a segment. Remember how you showed us your bullwhipping skills? We're gonna have a guy who is really good at it..." "And you want me to team up with him, or maybe compete against him? Or maybe talk with him about various bullwhipping topics?" "No, we just want you to stand there and stare at him"
I missed seeing you do your thing Conan ! I hope you live forever
I like how when he got to the can he started clubbing it with the whip without missing a beat
this guy really knows how to have fun, not fazed by not breaking the can as he planned, and just played along. Probably less people that can do that vs whipping a whip
