I have the atomic light and the yellow button broke on mine. only dropped a few times from waist pocket. button feature just stopped working.

Both are Alonefire E17 flashlights with what appear to be genuine Cree XM-L2 LEDs. The TacLight looks like it's a Rev. A, while the Atomic Beam is a Rev. B, hence the slight differences. (There's also a Rev. C now, but it's not as common.)

I recently bought a flashlight similar to the two you compared. The most important feature about the flashlight I bought is it has a rechargeable battery. Their are many many flashlights on eBay at this quality and price point but the rechargeable battery was the deal maker for me. Thank you for the video.

Don't expect to get full brightness with 3xAAA batteries. The battery holder is pretty much a gimmick. To fully drive a Cree XM-L2 at its true brightness, it takes an 18650.

A 20650 fits even better and has a little more capacity. They can be harder to find though.

Nuovo the tac light is made by bell Howell but there is many clones on ebay for 5-10$ but not sure if they are as good. I just bought a taclight and I am really impressed by it.

You are mostly right, but in the case of both the Atomic Beam and Tac light, they use actual CREE leds, while the eBay ones from China use mostly cheaper knockoff leds made by Lattice Brite. I've actually got both the Atomic Beam and Tac light as well as 4 other almost exact replicas purchased on EBay and one at Dollarama for 4$. All are actually very bright with new batteries OR a charged up 18650, but the Atomic beam and Taclight are noticeably brighter overall. The Atomic beam covers a slightly bigger area in flood mode, but I prefer the push button on the Taclight. Overall, I slightly prefer the Atomic beam. That said, I also bought a 3 pack of Duracell 380 lumen ones for 19$ that perform almost as well...

As far as I can tell, both flashlights are using an XM-L2 cree led light @about 960lumens. only differ in color range (3 color ranges). As per your video review, Taclight is likely a "cool white" while Atomic looks bit of the "neutral white" to "warm white " The cheapest tactical flashlight (with XM-L2 cree) that I can find is the Convoys S2+ 10 to 15 bucks! The pricey one, perhaps is Nitecore MH20GT

For people talking abt the issue of having to cycle thru 5 modes, it IS possible to replace that endcap with a cheapo 2 dollar led flashlites switch and then have simple on/off action from the switch...ive done it on my bell and howell tac lite and its same as urs...takes only alittle handywork on the endcap and the cheap switch will fit right in and look the same outwardly..i was tired of having to cycle 5 modes every time i just wanted on and off.. also: use the 18650 or 26650 lithium ion recharge batteries instead of those AAAs.. hugely better beam and it will run almost forever between charges

I think I like the atomic beam better. When u did the full zoom for both, the atomic looked better.

Good comparison ladies. It looks to me that the Atomic Beam is a bit better in my opinion. Great Job.

They are not the same in my opinion. I have both, and the bell+howell has a much better switch then the atomic beam. The atomic beam tends to be flickery and changes modes on it's own where the tactical bell+howell seams to be much more stable. Completely different switch on the back end.

I actually have a tac light mounted on my mountain bike better than any bike shop light I've ever owned

I have the atomic beam and is bright. If you go online to their site you can order a rechargeable lithium battery for $7.99 after the discount and it's supposed to take the light from 5000lux to 13000 lux. Just waiting for it to come in and give it a try. That should fix any complaints about battery life. Cool videos BTW.

They are probably manufactured in the same factory in China by the same Chinese peasants. That's why they are so alike.

I have the Atomic Beam. I have two minor complaints about it - which I'm betting hold true for the Tac Light as well. They are: 1) For mode selection it would be much better if they had used a slider switch or a rotary dial-ring (probably would have been the best choice). That's because with the existing multi-button-press method you have to go through all of the modes to get back to a previous mode. 2) It goes through batteries fairly quickly. But that being said, I'm not sure I have much right to criticize the thing at its price of $20 (or less) *shrug*

I agree about the multi switch being a hassle. I run my atomic on an 18650 lithium ion battery. The light output is brighter and will run continuously on high for about 6 hours. Also the newer size 20650 battery fits well and will last about 90 mins longer.

Great review ladies. I just scored on of these at Walmart for $7.50.

you have to click the on button on the taclight 4 times to get the strobe light!! With the atomic beam you can preset it for whatever mode you want it to come on as. In an emergency to click the taclight 4 times for the strobe to blind an attacker is wasted time.

I just got the Taclight for $8 from Kmart and I am very disappointed that you have to cycle through all the modes before you can even turn the light off! Is the Atomic Beam the same way?

My atomic beam clicks on a mode then off then if I click it again it goes to next mode and click again for off.

Jimmy Ramirez I got mine at Ross a couple weeks ago for $7.99. Definitely put a good 18650 battery in it though. Thing hurts your eyes at night WHEN its pointed away from you. Obviously don't look directly nto the light under any circumstances.

They both really are the same in fact about the same manufacturer that makes them even though you don't read it on the paper it is by the same manufacturer they just want you to think they're not the same by different names but they are the same and to be honest they really are good flashlights I've got one I like it a lot it works really well. And yes you can drop it in hot water and it will not explode and yes you can freeze it and it won't it will still turn on so all the tricks that it on TV I did and it worked perfectly so it works either one you can buy and yeah they both are the same thing and they both do the same thing and they both will work perfectly so he's at the choose which one you want better

Ya they aren't great but not horrible. I used one for a few months that was given to me. The switch eventually began to slide in. I just bought 3 lights. A streamlight, a nextorch, and a fenix headlamp. If I needed another I would look at fenix again.

you could of told us what type of battery it takes. After reading other posters, I figured out it can take a 20650, 18650, or 3 AAA batteries. Also one of those does an S.O.S. strobe which the other one does not. I'll bet you girls don't even know what S.O.S. is. lol

Tac light is not waterproof. Put it under the sink. Water got in housing. 2 flashlights in a row died from that

Been wanting an atomic beam for a while and yesterday i finally stole one from my local walmart YAY!, and i must say it is definitely a good flashlight, but not 20 dollars good. It's amazing when it's free though next i wanna steal another one to use it for work

Atomic Beam is 1000% better. Quality, and it’s more practical

that's more abuse then I'd risk with my more expensive olight that is 400 lumens and water proof with more expensive batteries then 3 AAA's
