Thank u both for your courage in speaking out strongly. I keep thinking of Einstein’s great quote that no problem can be solved from the same mindset that created the problem. So maybe our challenge is how we hold both and we matter others matter and it has to go to Higher Ground. I think the lurching back-and-forth us or them is never going to work. Thank you for this interesting presentation. I know you are considering (with many wonderful minds) how to address our current situation. I will add my two cents. I think there should be more pressure on the campuses to insist that all students take a crash course in Israel history. It can be a one day class. (Its content should be agreed upon by both Arabs and Jews -- hard, I know!) One of the most important reasons for the virus infecting campuses today is that so many (including Jews) don't understand the history of Israel. It may not always be pretty, but it's not the colonization and apartheid construct its accused of being.

But we have watched so much hurt being caused, that it will take a miracle for there to be non-resentful peace between Israel and those Palestinians KICKED OUT of their homes. My extremist stance, as a refugee, is thatbi believe in the right of return. I want anyone to teach me, why people kicked out of their homes, shoule not be able to return. For me, that is sacred benchmark. Yes, we are all from Africa. But you cannot kick people out of their homes and expect no "revenge." I want two states (thankfully Greenblatt did not diverge from this) living in peace, and sharing access to their holy places and showing us, and preserving the treasure that Jerusalem is, even for me, an atheist Hindu.
