I wish the national media would stop normalizing Trump and discuss the real threat he imposes along with Project 2025 and the ramifications of that. I’d also hope we can get rid of the electoral college and have the majority win. I believe Biden has been a very good president and I don’t understand how there is any comparison. 😩

And every voter should check out the Project 2025 document. It's 900 pages. You can find the PDF by googling "project 2025 mandate for leadership pdf". If that does not wake them up to the fact that democracy really does hang in the balance, nothing will.

The media should not be pleading his case. It’s outrageous outrage Trump is unfit for office! They will never win shy. Republican Party is a ship of fools. Trump can go anywhere who cares about his life. He will not be president. He’s a complete idiot failure fake.

Hello, First off, I want to ensure you that this reply is written in 100% solidarity with your thoughts on President Biden, etc. However, after having lived in Manhattan for almost 15 years - including seeing Trump in action at Trump Tower (1995; complete insanity: he was waving to people who weren't looking at him, as though they had waved to him, etc., and saying "Hello!", as if saying it BACK to folks who weren't even aware of him: he needs to be the center of attention even if only in his mind. He was known to everyone in Manhattan as "Don the Con"; he was known for the hundreds (if not more) lawsuits against him, his racism, his hatred of US Veterans, etc. His failed business adventures and especially his more than multiple bankruptcies. Then, he gets the show The Apprentice and people who *weren't* from NYC or the Tri-state area don't realize that, even Mark Burnett admitted - Trump was *playing the role of a successful businessman,* they had no idea how far from the truth that was. He was literally a reality show TV star. That was not *him* on that show, that was a role he was playing and it enabled him to call everything else that he had ever gotten in trouble with beforehand "fake news" or not true. My point in writing to you is to say that I heard an interview with Maggie Haberman from circa the last six weeks of Trump's presidency (about three weeks before the Jan. 6th Insurrection). The interviewer asked about people constantly saying that Trump's personality, actions, etc, have been *normalized, and she said an emphatic *no, he hasn't been.* I'm paraphrasing but she did point at that nothing about Donald Trump has been "normalized". No one can look at Trump and even remotely think that there's anything *normal* about Trump or his presidency. She's speaks so eloquently and with great brevity; I'm butchering her words, but I realized that she's right. No one thinks anything Trump does is normal - even his followers know what he is... because he doesn't change. He's been the same Donald Trump since I first saw him in the newspapers when I moved to Manhattan in the 1980s. Media hound. Womanizer. Unloyal. Not honest. It's all about him. This brings me back to my experience with him at Trump Tower in 1995 while I was waiting to go up to photograph Norman Mailer with my friend Gary. He's doesn't care what kind of press he gets as long as he gets press (I know he gets upset when he gets called out for certain things that bother him. But, especially after seeing him in person - I would be willing to bet he'd rather have "bad press" than no press). There's nothing normal about Trump. Nothing. Not backing up NATO, being obsessed with dictators, calling himself a "one day dictator" (as is it only takes one day to overthrow our democracy)... After hearing Maggie Haberman make the point that Trump HASN'T been normalized, I do agree with her. She makes that point in this interview without coming right out and using those words: he's shown us a million times who he is (succinctly! Unlike my comment), again, it made me realize she's 100% correct. I mentioned a bit of my background in NYC because I thought perhaps he *was* being normalized to those who didn't grow up in the NYC area and didn't read about him and see him on TV all the time (most of the time for unflattering reasons: bad press is still press). But after hearing Haberman 's thoughts on the subject, she is right. The press has certainly not normalized him. I 100% believe while he was running in 2015 and up to the election in 2016 , there were too many cable TV news programs that absolutely made light of the possibility of him becoming POTUS. They treated him like the circus act that he was... But I don't think they've done that, especially the NY Times, the Washington Post, and Politico. He is not normal. He's a charlatan who keeps grifting from his own base and they don't care. But, in my opinion as well, he's not normalized. There is nothing that can be normalized about him. There's no one quite like him.

Maggie Haberman has a great reply as to how Trump has not been normalized and how he never could be. (My reply to your comment was deleted [??]), so I'll just say that I lived in Manhattan for almost 15 years. I've seen Trump act 100% unhinged at Trump Tower, pretending folks were saying hello to him and waving to him (as he walked through the lobby) when no one, NO ONE!, even noticed him. I've read nonstop lawsuits against him, heard Deutsch Bank higher-ups talking about cutting him off (no more loans) because he didn't pay his debts (that was overhead during a photo shoot for Forbes or Fortune. I can't recall the mag. 1995. All the bankruptcy filings, failed businesses ventures. Etc. Not to mention racism, hatred of US vets (kicked them off every sidewalk in buildings he owned or that bought the right to use the Trump name)... You can hear her reasoning as to why she doesn't believe he's been normalized... on Fresh Air in the 2020 interview. She makes a good point. He can't be normalized: there's nothing "normal" any him or his presidency. The truth of who he is has always been reported. And he hasn't changed since I first saw his image in NYC papers when I moved to NYC in the 1980s. That interview is worth a listen. Peace to you. And may everyone in our country get out and vote (or mail in the ballots, like me, who can't physically go out to vote) and save this democracy from this man who will do anything to keep his ego from being afflicted with the word "Loser' again.

i wish you woiuld talk about the process we can anticipate if trump loses and the turmoil tesulting in his denial of his loss. This really needs to be discussed along with how close or not close the race is to be.

Reducing Orange Treasonsous to a matter of race whittles away about 90% of his evil. While I am sure that nobody could get away with beign so uninformed and corrupt if they were not white, that short changes what a danger he is and neglects some of the larger factors -- like the imaginary best friend in the sky that we have to contend with.

@@dianethulin1700GOP didn't fully lose their minds until Obama became sole 21st century President to be majority elected TWICE.
I disagree that anyone, even the left of center, thinks there will be a "gotcha" moment. We do hope that those who make decisions in courts, will hold him responsible for as many offenses as possible. He is obviously above the law. Saying that he isn't above the law is incorrect, because we've seen it. Just please acknowledge his guilt. Maybe you are too afraid to incarcerate him, just acknowledge it please.
How could this election Not be close? If the droolers suddenly woke up and Biden makes the best case as to why he is our best chance to keep democracy? Really? Unbelievable to me this election is even close Vote Blue!

Imagine how the rational and educated Romans felt way back then. What we have here is history repeating itself. After the rise, the fall is still open for debate unless SCOTUS has a say so in the matter.
Wonderful discussion!
Biden should do what Obama did about racism in his first campaign: take the bull by the horns and 1. Compassionately explain the dilemma; 2. Reiterate commitment to America's allies; 3. Reiterate and insist on practical and honorable use of American weaponry; and 4. Begin negotiations on the way to monitor both that and the influx of humanitarian aid. Biden should point out that in this conflict of beliefs and convictions, compassion for human suffering is the common ground, and therefore the obvious place to begin.
Maggie! PLEASE...do not call RFK Jr. "Bobby" it is an assault to the beloved first name of his father.

The bill has been passed, the money distributed, the aid distributed, and the media has dropped the issue and moved on. There has been no external coverage, none, zero!

Burns has the "Right" disease. He doesn't seem to be able to have a thought without asking, "right?" at the end. It's the current version of the 80s-90s rappers "you know what I'm sayin'"... and it's annoying as hell.
I will start supporting Biden just like most people that voted for him....after I'm dead.
Let's consider god's thoughts on 2020. Yes, it seems 45 might have won had it not been for an act of god. It should also be noted that the odious 45 wanna-be, in TX, was hit by a falling tree (lightening strike) while jogging. I'd call that an act of god. It seems to me that god has made Thou's preferences known.
