Great review of essential fishing gear. The practicalities of each tackle box and backpack you've highlighted are extremely well explained.

Actually the “hybrid “ you showed would be my choice. Look for one that comes with trays. I have an older version of the one you did show! Goes right over your shoulder allowing both hands free and I do set it down to fish a spot and dig through it. Same price as the hard boxes

Yes, I do see a lot of people using them. I would say one advantage of those is that you can still store you tackle trays horizontally unlike a back pack where the trays are stored vertically. Sometimes the lures slide around when stored vertically and the hooks get all tangled together (if that makes sense).

Thanks for going through the differences in both with such detail. If there is a hybrid out there that does the best of both, then I'd probably go for that.

They do..... they're pretty affordable as well. Generally cheaper then the full on back pack.

My kids are big on storing their hooks and lures in the weeds and trees along the edge of the lake. 😂

A sling bag works good too. Easily slide to front and get gear out.

Hmmm, interesting. Definitely would work if you wanted to scale back and just take a few essentials. That would work nice too if you were doing some knee deep wading.
