Interesting fact: motorcycles were a lot less common in Australia in 1997 than today. As mentioned in the ad, only 1 in 40 vehicles in 1997 was a motorcycle. Today, it's close to 1 in 20.

I imagine or hope an affect of this is increased motorcycle awareness in the community.

funny, here, above you, indonesia.. 80% vehicles on the road are motorcycles so we, car drivers have to expect the worst from them since car damages usually cost more than motorcycle damages

@@nilibookworm 1. lane splitting is proven to be safer for the bikers, reducing chances of getting rear-ended by drivers in traffic who can't look up from their phones. unless you're weaving through moving traffic at high speeds, it's usually safe 2. most bikers don't smash mirrors like in the 15 second clips you see on insta reels or tiktok. everyone experiences road rage, and road rage is usually more dangerous to the riders as cars have an inherent edge over motorcycles that is extremely dangerous to the riders. meaning a car driver poses significant threat to a rider when under the influence of road rage as they can seriously injure the rider or cause death using their giant heavy cars against a rider who is exposed to the elements and can only save themselves by wearing the right gear or getting away in time. riders usually can't do serious harm under road rage. overall, a car driver affected by road rage poses much more significant threat to *anything* surrounding them as they are in control of a giant heavy object that can cause MUCH more destruction 3. i can't fully argue against that. however, bikers speeding usually only end up seriously injuring/killing themselves, meaning it's almost purely self harm that usually only kills the biker (unless they crash head-on or into a pedestrian, which is extremely rare). of course it has its effects on car drivers, but it's usually much more deadly for the biker, vs. speeding cars that cause more harm to surrounding drivers (heavy giant car vs. much smaller bike). of course that doesn't make it okay 4. 99% of bikers don't run red lights, and those who usually do are idiots and don't represent most bikers. 5. again, bikers who do this don't represent the entire biker community, and again it's usually almost purely self harming car drivers overall pose a larger risk to everyone around them, and car drivers are also guilty of breaking laws just as much or less than bikers (who are much more spatially aware than the large amount of drivers who text and drive and so on). nevermind the fact that a biker getting into an accident usually only kills/injures the biker, rather than a collision between cars which can cause much more death and destruction than a motorcycle accident. also, you have no idea if OP does any of these things, and you're just being petty asf to a random commenter for no real reason
