Hello Chrissie! I have the same OCD themes as you and am just getting professional help in my 30's. It's comforting to know that I'm not alone.

Chrissie, you are an absolute God-send! I have been on my own road to recovery in OCD for three years, and you are truly the most sympathetic, kind, and most relatable person who knows the world/experience of OCD perfectly! I was hospitalized in 2019 for POCD, of course no one at the hospital knew about it and tried sending me to an actual P-related therapist instead. Thankfully, my mom found a great and very educated OCD therapist to help me start recovery, and I've been a client of his ever since. I no longer have POCD, but I totally get how taboo thoughts/sensations/feelings can be percieved even in our 21st century society. I have two, more recent themes regarding my love of foreign languages and my boyfriend, who's also my first ever boyfriend lol Thank you so so so much for what you do! Sending lots of love and admiration your way! You are strong and amazing Chrissie! I also have your book - simply awesome and awe ispiring!

I shivered when you mentioned "necrophilia" at 4:30. Since there are OCD themes like pedophilia and zoophilia for a long while I wondered if necrophilia could also be an OCD theme i was having alongside the other taboo themes, but i didnt hear anyone mention necrophilia as an OCD theme before so it felt like i was only looking for an excuse to such vile thoughts D: This theme is really disturbing and was the main reason that i denied to have OCD. Its scary to even type these words into google to find out if Necrophilia OCD is real or not. Thank you so much for mentioning it!!

Sadly, the fears that you'll be "carted off to the police" is real if you don't do it correctly. I put into words in an email to my professor that I have a taboo thought OCD, and she called the police. They showed up at my work with a social worker, and the social worker convinced me to self admit into the psych ward. Once I got to the psych ward, they discharged me early because I had "no reason to be there." My advice would be to first tell a therapist, but if you cannot, send those printed articles on your theme to a loved one that you KNOW WELL. Not a professor, because they're mandated reporters. Therapists are too, but even therapists not versed in OCD recognize that you should only report INTENT. Not thoughts.

Every. Single. One. Of. These. I have Suicide OCD, and I kept it quiet for so long because I was TERRIFIED other people and therapists would think I was actually suicidal. And, I avoided treatment for a while because I was so afraid that by exposing myself to suicidal themes, it was more likely to happen or come true. It has been so, so hard!!!!

I have, the opposite of suicide, OCD. I can definitely relate. Took me 48 years. You don’t want to tell anyone the things you’ve “seen”. Most would be horrified or scared to death. I’m like, hello so am I most the time, and it’s in MY head. All the best to you. God bless.

I have OCD but when I'm on Prozac I'm able to control the thoughts better. I've gone off the med at various times but I always return to it. Is there a way to control OCD without Prozac?

5:43 “What if they cart me away to the police station, or to jail, or to the mental hospital.” I’m glad I have people who understand me that it’s just OCD, but if I was in that predicament, out of those 3 I definitely would chose the mental hospital so that I get the treatment I need.
