I am at my end with Google TV at $97.00 per month. Exactly what you stated. I will have my local NFL Football at a higher quality video and I can avoid the $299.00 special they are offering on Google TV for NFL Ticket. Thank you for the video discusion very helpful. I will subscribe to learn more.

...over the air is RELIABLE! NO WIFI, NO GLIYCHY TECHNOLOGY! Im sick of tv boxes that freeze or break up in signal or picture quality or lack of easy to use features. With streaming sticks or tv boxes, you have to exit one app to open another. Even if your able to combine channels, theres the buffering when you move from one channel to another! Im old school. I like to channel surf!

Just got at Tablo 4. The set up was easy and the guide is pretty good. Just started using it so can't really comment as of yet. With that the picture is great the response is okay, but all in all seems pretty solid.

The cash flow comes from Scripps being able to monitor your usage data. You also can't use Tablo to watch TV on your cell phone outside your home network (possibly a VPN will work).

My understanding is that it only receives ATSC 1.0 version. So, what happens if you live in an area where ATSC 3.0 version is broadcast. Will this device pick up and record the ATSC 3.0 version?

The previous version does everything I need, especially since I don’t use the DVR function (no guide subscription) and really only use it to avoid the need to toggle between input devices on my TV (no multiple remote control devices) and as a benefit I can use a tablet or smartphone as a TV when connected to my LAN. If Scripps releases an ATSC 3.0 version of the Tablo I’ll buy, otherwise I will keep using the one I already own until it breaks.

I think as they add more streaming services, we are going to see pay channels. I will like to see 10play from A.U in the USA. I will be glad to pay for that.

Will Tablo be able to be used with the coming FTC over the air changes?

It will not. Tablo announced an ATSC 3.0 device last year, but that has yet to be released. ATSC 1.0 signals should remain until 2027 or later, though.

Can this be hooked up to a projector/ Home theater?

If your projector can be connected to a Roku or similar device, yes.

What do you think is Coming soon mean with this.. I have no problem connecting to a firestick. It seems that the TV manufacturers are slow to the dance. Why do you think that is the case with Tablo being around for a while? Tablo is compatible with streaming devices (sticks and boxes) and smart TVs from Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV/Google TV, Apple TV*, Samsung*, LG* and Vizio*, as well as smartphones and tablets running iOS and Android. *COMING SOON

Tablo is in the process of rebuilding their apps across all platforms. It's our understanding that they simply haven't finished the updates for Apple TV, Vizio TVs, and Samsung and LG TVs from 2020 onward.

All of those apps are planned to be released in the coming months with Apple TV coming first.

I really don’t think their pricing model is going to work out and I don’t see how they can survive doing this. Now that they’ve taken away commercial skip I just don’t find the product as compelling as the first generation quad box I am using today.

Here in Central Florida I live between 2 big cities. With my omnidirectional antenna, I receive about 135 antenna channels! Cable sucks in my opinion.

Been running Tablo since November of 2016. It’s still stable, but a little slow, and the remote access has always been unreliable.

The first bad mistake is it is white, everybody's entertainment system is black. I hope to see an improved unit with a much bigger hard drive on board and at least four tuners that are updated to the new standards. I'm sorry but they can keep what they're selling right now.

It's not meant to be placed near your TV system, it's supposed to go somewhere else in your house where it can reach your wifi and antenna. Usually in those cases, you want it up on a shelf and to blend into the wall, hence the white color.

You can’t stream it remotely, right? That’s a dealbreaker for me. Even the legacy Tablo can’t stream remotely to Roku.

Tablo Gen 4 is a huge downgrade from legacy Tablo. I’m a long term Tablo user with a lifetime guide subscription. My Legacy Tablo antenna is directionally pointed at an antenna farm 50 miles to the south of me and works extremely well. I purchased a Tablo Gen 4 with their 35 mile antenna about a month ago to better capture 6 LD channels 5 miles north and 3 full power channels 25 miles north. I use Roku at home. The 4 Gen reception is choppy and crashes at times while watching. There is no manual record and guide data is missing on 3 of the channels, meaning they can’t be recorded. Unlike Legacy, you can’t rip Gen 4 shows to your computer to watch on Plex later. The Gen 4 interface always loads to a “home” screen rather than where you left off. I’m not interested in the shows Gen 4 pushes on the “home”. There is no remote viewing for when I’m on trips and also no ipad/pc/iphone viewing on my home LAN. I just purchased a used Legacy on ebay to replace my 4 Gen. Not sure what I’m going to do with the Gen 4 now.

Wasted opportunity as it does not support DVBT-2 broadcast

This is only for the North American market. DVBT2 isn't used here.

not true - DVBT2 broadcast experimental was used in US. but my point still is valid - focusing on atsc will be doom for Tablo and company behind it@@badreligionnc

Pure garbage, I had the older version and it worked great so I upgraded to the 4th gen. Forget watching it on a PC, doesn't work on a Vizio TV, and this last firmware update breaks anyone wanting to watch a video on a Samsung device. I'm returning it.
