Table Saw Blade Guard Upgrade

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is an addition to the blade guard bracket lifting system I already made. In this video I will show you how to make a custom plexiglass guard with an integrated dust port. This blade guard not only looks good but performs well and is suited to an overarm set up.
Note: 3D printed dust port which is integrated into my design was done on an online 3D CAD program called:
"Onshape":www.onshape.com/en/
You can create a free account which saves public file to share.
To find the design I made search: "Blade Guard Duct V5" and if you have an account you can modify and save the file as an STL and print.

    Love your channel. Would appreciate Kate a video of your sliding tablesaw jig that you used for angled cuts on tablesaw

    That's great to hear Brett, sounds like a good idea for another video focusing on that table saw jig 👍

    Nicely done! I love the visibility. Have you considered add in underswept ramp to the leading edge? Basically just extending the side pieces past the front of the collector with a ramp so you can push wood towards the collector and it will ride up and over your work material.

    Thanks for watching. Your idea sounds great and actually reminds me of the original concept of the SawStop guard which acts in the same way you described. I was thinking of doing another mod that would drop down the sides when ripping just the thickness of the blade. That is one of the messiest operations I find it flies out dust everywhere!

    Do you have suction under base of the saw as well? I find this captures a lot of the sawdust and wonder if I need both?

    Yes I do and it does capture well. The way I look at it is the blade guard is essential for safety with the added bonus of getting rid of some overhead dust particles. If you can get it refined to actually do a good job getting rid of that dust, well, happy days...Thanks for watching😊

    From my observation the dust exits the machine at the back of the blade, not the front. So I'm curious why you put the dust port on the front?

    If you look at how tight the design of this is and how little room you have on the top of the whole guard it wasn’t easy. Putting the dust collection on the back is debatable in my opinion. With the direction of the blade spinning, dust & debris flicks up and around to the front of the guard anyway. I just notice with mine and as you can see on the clips there is very little mess if not at all on the bed of the saw itself and works well for me. I would love to see your own design, thanks for watching 👍
