Was really good but had too many problems with overheating, not much room for air flow and red hot exhaust pipes and turbo at front of engine bay. Have now fitted Vortech V& supercharger and have 2nd gen VVTI heads with 1st gen STRONG bottom end. Will upload a video one day

Yeah Im going supercharger route as well..debating between m112 or m90 eaton set up....not trying to make a monster set up...probably just stick to the M90. Instead also easier to tune and less invasive.

@funguy7979 The earlier 1uz has thicker forged rods and a thicker crank plus 6 bolts for each of the main bearing caps and I believe forged pistons too. The bottom end of these engines can take awesome power.

@liamvg It has a syvecs ECU that will not let the engine run unless it sees oil presure, this feature has saved many engines. It has however been reprogrammed since then to disable the oil pressure check while cranking so it does now start normally.

I've decided to go another route. I have my 2uz in my tundra(vehicle it came with) and after cleaning it up I simply dropped it back in as a daily driver. I already bought a NA mk4 and a R154 to drop into that. I looking around junkyards for a totaled 2ndGen tundra with the 5.7lt 3urfe motor and drop that into my tundra with a manual and take the 2uz with forged internals and a turbo and drop that into my supra. Any ideas or comments? I'm already doing work little by little to my mk4.

quick question... I understand that earlier 1uz motors had better rods than the later 1uz's, is this true? Is it also true for the pistons or were the same ones used? I'm hearing that the 1uz's stock bottom end can handle a ton of power?? I have a 2uzfe from a tundra that I'm cleaning up but the rods are toothpicks. I'll finish with the 2uz and sell it for what I can get and grab a 1uz quick since their so damn cheap. Cams, full port, and a tune and we'll see....

The way this engine is set up is how I would like to have mine when all is done and said but with my 2uz. I'll try to mount it as far back as I can to keep the weight balance since the 2uz is an iron block. My goal will be 800 street-able hp. It'll be my weekend car that I'll rub with a diaper like Cameron's dad in Ferris Bueller's day off.

@funguy7979 3uz had big rods, as well as the 1urfe, and 3urfe. not sure about the 2urfe, but it is the most powerful standard of the 3... as much as i love the 1uz'd i would opt for a 1ur or 3ur for pure strength and good starting off power.

@xraycat3000 Nothing wrong with 2jz it's a grreat engine but the 1uz is 100kg lighter, sits further back in the engine bay so virtually all the weight of engine is behind the front axle plus there's an extra 1000cc of power available before you start to add boost. And just look how well it sits in there :)

@macario111 Because the 1UZ can make even bigger power! this is 560BHP and totally stock internals, with a little bit of work to lower the compresion this will make 1000BHP You need to do a LOT of work to get 1000BHP from a 2JZ. I am not dissing the 2jz it is a great powerhouse but the 1UZFE is bigger and stronger, it sits further back in the engine bay so handling is better, it has an aluminium block so is lighter and it is a V8 so sound Awesome and runs really smooth (much less vibration)

@suprafearless Nice Supra man, I love both of those motors but you are right, not to mention the 1UZ can make big power more reliably. I already have a 1UZ engine but no car. Planning on swapping into a Cressida or back into a Sc400... anyway where can I find lower compression pistons, better rods and camshafts for the 1UZ? I know there's sites like Lextreme.com but I don't know them or their reputations. I've already learned a hard lesson from sketchy sites and don't wanna go though that again.

i dont know about your top end coment since 1uz's have beeen known to redline 8000 on stock internals , plus the 1uz has a smaller stroke which allows it to rev more freely than a 2jz , and to top it all off the 1uz is about 300lbs lighter than a 2jz just saying man

but you have to think, the 1UZ is more money to maintain, parts are more,Its more cramped so labor is more and aftermarket is alot stronger for the 2jz...The 1UZ is a great engine but i think 2jz is abit better for a tuner car...2JZGE NA-T makes the most sense..1000BHP for the street would be very hard to drive day to day..The 1UZ is better for TQ in stock form but has lest top-end...Plus you will spent ALOT more to turbo a 1UZ then a 2JZ..just my 2 cents
