LPL seeds their teams at worlds based on the amount of championship pts they get in spring and summer based on playoffs and have regionals (where LNG finished first in regionals to get the #3 seed) for #3 and #4 seed. LNG was the runner up to JDG in the summer playoffs. So they may be #3 based on seeding but they're essentially the considered the second best chinese team by many people. They didn't just beat them, they stomped them pretty hard.

Especially media portray the falling of Faker until he come out talking about his injury and taking a break… after T1 lost to all teams including the bottom 12th, it was no doubt that faker holds the team up. Seems T1 cracked the code to beat LPL teams, these games didn't even look fair! IMO a lot of LPL's strength comes from securing a "hidden lead" in early-to-mid game and following the meta by the rules. They know exactly what champions to pick and how quickly the smaller things like clearing vision to stats drakes give adds up on this level. While their individual skills and teamfights are robot-like precise they don't like to fight if they don't have an advantage T1 denied both of those by counterpicking with off-meta champions and contesting LNG from getting that small early lead. And the typical LCK way snowballed out of control. NA and EU tried the same thing a bit and it worked but stumbled a lot in draft or mid-to late game decisions, where LCK and LPL know how to work around

If this doesn't cement the fact that the actual grand final is next week I don't know what does. This was an absolute clinic. 5 game series between JDG and T1 to determine who will beat down BLG honestly.

@Finkaisar both of those outcomes are great stories, really. We either get Faker winning a 4th and winning in Korea, or we get the first ever Golden Road. The Cinderella story would be Weibo coming in through 6th place in LPL to upset

Holy crêpes, this is the worst performance I have seen from LNG since Gala joined. It might have been the worst performance I have seen from a worlds quarterfinals team ever. That was bronze macro. But not China bronze - EU bronze. No neutral objective control whatsoever. 0 out of 12 drakes, 0 out of 1 elder, 0 out of I didn't count how many Barons, 0 out of 6 heralds and they didn't even get any advantages in kills or farm. Like what have they even been doing during these 3 games while T1 took literally everything? It is outrageous how a team that made it to worlds quarterfinals can even play like that, even if it was just this one series. I mean, you kinda have to be reluctant to learn from your mistakes when you (except for 1st herald in g1) give over the first 4 neutral objectives of each game completely uncontested 3 games in a row when you lost 2 games already to the enemy team having soul. This was so bad, I'd even go as far as to say that I suspect this match must have been fixed, because I can't believe LNG could have SUCH an off day. Losing is one thing, but losing LIKE THAT is another.

It wasn't intentional. All the chinese teams that participated are more rich than T1. Heck the yearly salary of GALA might be enough to buy 3 of the T1 players before winning worlds
