Using comparisons for different reasons. He didn't like the MJ comparison because Edwards is only a couple years into the league and still has much to learn. Silly to start the GOAT talk. Compared him to Iverson from the primary scorer learning to get the rest of the team involved standpoint...which Iverson never figured out. He was not comparing them size wise or playing style. Damn, I cannot believe how awful the reading comprehension skills are on these sports comment threads.

Bucher wasn't wrong at all. Jordan orchestrated the Bulls' offense quite a bit before his first retirement. MJ didn't have a ring in 1985-86 at 22 but he averaged 28 PPG at 21 and 37 PPG at 23 and 35 PPG at 24. MJ didn't get a ring until 1990-91 when he was 27, got a 3-peat then retired, returned in 94-95 and 3-repeated from 1995 to 1998 at 34 years old. 6 rings in 6 finals appearances. If Ant can exceed or match this feat, he isn't just the next MJ. He is Anthony Edwards.

How on earth does a team with an all-star and former first pick, 3 times dpoy and great role players compare to the supporting cast of MJ early in his career. On an individual level MJ was basically the best player in the league in his second year. 22 yo Ant is even far behind 22 yo Luka.

Ant is having a great year and playoffs, and maybe the T-Wolves win the chip. But hang on a second. Ant has two other all-stars on his team early in his career, and the 6MOY....Jordan's Bulls were a total rebuild team the year he joined. They lost to Milwaukee in the first round, but as a rookie, MJ led all scorers in every game that series but one. Then MJ's second season he missed almost the entire year with a broken foot. Pippen took 3 years to develop. MJ's fifth year of actually playing, he had taken down all three 80s dynasties (Celtics, Pistons, Lakers) and was hoisting the finals and MVP trophies after defeating Magic and LA in 5 games.

I think Rick totally missed the point in his attempt to preserve the memory of Michael Jordan. Colin didn’t say Ant is the new Jordan, or as good as him, or even on the way to being him. He just said that he sees him as someone willing to sacrifice a bit on the offensive end if it means he can win. That is a fair assessment, and Jordan absolutely did that, so I don’t see how that is a controversial comparison. Poor comparison to Iverson who was close to 26 going on that run with the Sixers going against inferior competition in the East. Furthermore, the difference between AI and Ant is that if Edward's is off he can beat you with elite defense whereas Iverson often had to be hidden on that end because he was a liability. Lastly, it's more than fair to compare Ant to MJ especially an MJ who was 22. Ant already seems to have the leadership and ability to trust his teammates which took MJ a little bit longer to develop.

KD to the Knicks still makes a bunch of sense according to Bucher. And the Knicks have all the picks in the world for Phoenix to replenish their picks somewhat. It’s gonna be Randle and a contract and maybe a young guy like McBride, and however many picks they need to make it work. Brunson, Donte, OG, KD, Robinson with Hart and Hartenstein off the bench at least. If Phoenix was smart, they’d do that now. But they won’t cause they’re stubborn. Next best options, according to Bucher are Lauri, Kuz or MPJ possibly. But KD and Lauri are possible game changers in a huge way.
