the pantaloon is about going through the adolescence era and realising that getting older is just another phase that won't make a difference in your life.

it makes a big difference, in fact the song is all about change but not for the better.
My concert was yesterday and he played pantaloon, I cried so much!

Fun fact: so I'm traveling with my family and we were visiting my grandma's old friends; they were talking about how everything started hurting them when they got older (because of arthritis) and how they've lost so many friends over time. So I was just in the corner having a mini existential crisis about growing old. This video really helped, thanks!
"Pantaloonness." I literally almost spit out my water! 😂
Woah I actually never thought about it that way. I always though the pantaloon was the voice of society and pressure. (it seems too on the nose and dramatic) like for the first verse maybe the grandfather killed himself or I guess it works w other things like that, but all the adults in Tyler's life told him that he lost his mind (and thy was how he died. Then in the second verse Tyler's dad tell him he need to to get a wife and build a home. Both are pressuring him to be normal and to not think the way he does. Then by the end, Tyler has listened to them for so long that he starts to pressure himself and he becomes the pantaloon. But now that I listened to yours/ it makes so much more sense! 😂

It is such a confusing song though, right? Hard for me to even feel completely confident that mine is 100%.
“The Pantaloon” is my favorite song from self titled
Thank you!! They played Pantaloon last night at the Schott and I was curious about its meaning.. Tyler mentioned it was about his grandfather! P.S. "A moth ate through your favorite shirt" reminds me of Job 13:28 "so man wastes away like something rotten, like a garment eaten by moths." :O

Woah! Nice connection, and that's really cool that they played such an old song!
@parepidemosproductions4741

OH MAAAAN (also, I saw that verse referenced on twitter when I first got into top and I was like "woah...")
I think the grandpa part is not that Tyler himself made the discovery but that his grandpa told him those amazing stories and his parents or whomever had to destroy his fantasies and tell him that he can't trust his grandpa because he's crazy. But Tyler actually feels this way already because his mind doesn't work like anybody else's and people think he's crazy so I don't think he's writing as this old person character but that he projects what he saw happening to his grandpa when he was a kid to how he feels now.

The whole album Vessel, All of Regional at best, Blurryface, all of their albums realy. You know what would be awesome? Just a song were Josh Dunn sings and Tyler does the drums! Ha

dewd this connects to legend a bit. we feel this is about an elder with perhaps alzhiemers. In legend there was a quote "when your eyes did not know me like I know you". of course that was meant for his grandfather. I think his grandfather had alzhiemers around when Tyler wrote this and he finally died of it.
thanks!!
Thanks for this, I've always loved this song! This is one of the few songs that I've never really been able to understand. Like I sort of got it, but when I would play it with someone else around an they asked me, I couldn't explain it. And I'm sorry you missed out on Tour de Columbus! I went (my first TØP concert), and it was AMAZING! If you haven't seen them live, you need to!
I think you nailed it!!! I also think Tyler is talking about Josh in "we don't believe what's in TV." Lol

Right now the pantaloon is one of my favourites. I used to think it was a stupid song but I never listened to the lyrics I only focused on the music and the first lines. Now I’ve understood the meaning I love it. I do this a lot with songs 😂
THIS.. explains everything.

thanks that is my favorite song from this album
I know I’m about 1 year behind here but I feel like “you like to sleep alone/ it’s colder than you know/cause your skin so used to colder bones/it’s warmer in the morning/than what it is at night/your bones are held together by your nightmares and your fright” is a reference to Sundown Syndrome which is common for people with dementia suffer. The syndrome causes people to get disoriented and scared in the evening. Maybe I’m way off.
Thank you so much for doing this song that I requested and not only that but going above and beyond and saying my name and showing my comment up on the screen I know it might not seem that important to you but it does to me Thank you 😊 |-/

So I know this isn't what you usually do but one thing that would be super cool is if you looked into the theories surrounding 1922dec16, echo, and Whisperer. Whether they are canon to the clique and are orchestrated by tyler and josh/ their team or if it is just a very extra clique member
I also think that the meaning of a chair now line is talking about The Pantaloon's isolation (being a tiny island in a sea of people). I think that it's like he's being completely ignored and nobody takes any notice of him or goes out of their way to ask what's wrong or anything. It reminds me of an old song from a musical I saw a long time ago. The song was called "Mr Cellophane" and the most prominent line of the song is "you can look right through me, walk right by me (something like that) and never know I'm there".
hola dad :) I love this song. getting old is so scary. I hope it's not too bad, but idk. I like your pep talk though cause you're a gr8 dad who comforts your children lol.
I'm so happy that you did this song..i have been waiting for this since forest. pantaloon and forest are two of my favorite songs by top. can you please do fake you out or fall away?
Could you do tonight (from no phun intended) ?

The Pop Song Professor lol no, just mundane
so, i kind of investigated the lyrics, and i think both it and wdbwotv, might have something to do something with dema and the bishops in the new album. i think it may be from the pov of a dema child, perhaps an important one.
Please do CLEAR
Fall Away please!!! :)
CAN YOU DO FALL AWAY
@p0rfavxr
7 жыл бұрын
cate engle Fall Away has lots of religious ties to it. The song explains how he knows the people in America are VERY sinful and asking God to shine his light on him so he won't go to hell. When he says 'I will keep the lights on in this place' he means that he will try to spread the gospel around. When he sings 'I don't Wanna fall away' he's basically saying ' God, please don't cast me away'
fake you out?
save save save save save saaaaaaaaaave
oh ms. believer!
I don't think the hook from: "you are tired .... lose your mind" is about Tyler but more about any old person in general, or the things that Tyler fears about growing old. Also, I was at the last TDC show ;)
Can you do champion by fob please Obviously it's not top but I would really like an explanation of it

Can you do "doubt"
@p0rfavxr
7 жыл бұрын
Hannah C. doubt is Tyler asking God to not forget about him even when he doubts him and how he is trying his best to be holy
For All you guys wondering what fake you out is about, It's very similar to Screen where he is saying he has been pretending that he is fine but he is broken on the inside. When he says ' I'm so afraid of what you have to say, cuz I am quiet now and silence gives you space' He saying he wants to fake how he really feels inside because he is afraid of what the public/fans will say to his inner problems
@ThePopSongProfessor
7 жыл бұрын
I think you're right, but I think he's also talking about God.

I'm very impressed by your ability to think these songs through then!
I changed my meaning of a chair and water when I went to the trainwreck of a venue that was express live
Tyler said once in a show that WDBWOTV is for his mom
if u dont choose fake you out ill fake you out
I don’t know if you already picked up on this but the moth eating through his favorite shirt is a biblical reference to a verse that says to not store treasures on earth where thieves steal and moth and rust destroy (Matthew 6:19)
Do clear!
Probably when in the song he says that your bones are held together by your nightmares and your frights, he is probably talking about something that bothers you or scares, you want to g ry rid of it or find a solution to it before accepting your fate
