I’ve met T.I. many times as a Gym Manager at his gym in Stockbridge, literally right down the road from his house… Years ago he would have his kids playing on the equipment, running around the gym, and would come in with his cameras and PT to only do 10min.. anything I had to ask or say to him like “Tip respectfully the kids can’t be playing on the equipment” and he would roll his eyes and turn his nose up He does have a strong entitlement complex

TI is thinking that his success in his musical career automatically gives him some type of privilege when it comes to dealing with stand up. But the reality is that there is a reason why standups typically go through a similar process in order to get opportunities to be on stage. TI is too arrogant to understand that at this point that he’s getting Opportunities to get on stage simply because of his Notoriety and not because of his skill because he doesn’t have any yet. Him saying that Godfrey was acting different the night that they actually performed is because Godfrey understands diplomacy,TI comes from hip-hop which is all about Machismo. There's nothing to earn. Maybe learn, not earn. You only have to be funny and earn money. That's the only requirement. He is doing just that. He should learn about the different etiquette that's expected of EVERY comedian, not just new comics. To hell with hierarchy "etiquette". But general etiquette should be learned when entering different worlds. Music and comedy are related but they're not the same. It's only wise and respectful to read the room properly.

Godfrey energy switched up quick, I remember him saying in the video about TI "I'm not gonna watch somebody who cant do comedy better than me." He was very condescending on the other video talking about ti doing comedy. he did feel some type of way about TI going on stage after him, you could hear it in his tone on that video. He switched up real quick when TI checked him about it. I don't have a problem with Godfrey's stance as a comedian from his experience, it's the fact that he's trying to play it off like "that's not what I meant" because TI was angry, Godfrey knows that's exactly what he meant. Man up Godfrey. Also, TI was over-emotional on here he needs to chill.

I’m sure it’s fair to assume T.I was not good at comedy if he hadn’t heard any of his material or after hearing his material. T.I maybe a good storyteller but may not be funny. Time will tell.

Godfrey had the chance to educate TI on the rules, standards, and etiquette of stand up comedy, and instead let TI steamroll over him with hip hop politics mainly ruled over the idea of money and celebrity signifying true success over substance.

Okay so why didn’t he “educate” him at the show about the rules and standards. No, but instead he smiled and laughed with him and took pictures. He then came on his podcast and started talking shit. Godfrey is known for this shit, he gets away with it bc most of the time it’s other comedians who aren’t built like that, but this type he got the right one. TI had every right to defend himself in that situation, but these guys tried to mask it under the guise of the “art of comedy”.

I watched his Unprotected Sets episode after this and he starts with "I don't trust anybody who can't point out anything wrong with themselves" I laughed so hard considering this episode of this podcast. No wonder he just walked away at one point. I'm sure on the inside he was disgusted.

Tony Baker was straight and direct by telling him to acknowledge his privilege. It's simple, people hate the priviledge, so I don't get why TI acting like he don't understand that lol

Yeh, Godfrey should have stood his ground more. But I don’t think it’s on some physical stuff (because Godfrey would kill this tiny dude), maybe it was due to TI’s notoriety in Atlanta and Godfrey didn’t want to mess up his audiences down South. Who knows..

TI saying he’s the exception to the rule is why so many people have started to get turned off to him. If you’re entering into the comedy realm then you need to abide by the rules that everyone else adheres to. Feeling like you’re above those rules is just disrespectful and arrogant

Godfrey felt raw about TI going up after him and let it be known. He sounded salty. I get it. TI responded the way we knew he would-with his typical arrogance and bravado. Godfrey tap danced. He didn’t have to, but I think he knew he sounded a little salty and he took the “L” for that purpose. He chose this route. Not out of fear. But maturity. He didn’t have to go that route. If you’re a decent person, it’s kinda what you strive to do when you’re wrong or mishandled a situation. It takes humility and discipline. No love lost on my end. Been there before. Will inevitable be there again.

Tip always talking 😂. The problem is he’s not a comedian. They always do this that’s how they bring you in. When Patrice was alive he talked about how they’d watch another comic set at the comedy store and after all the comics would clown them about a bad joke.

If ur a 40+ year old man and you still don't have control of ur emotions ur chakra is out of line and needs to be aligned or ur gonna look like T.I.

He has alot of internal anger inside. You can hear it in his voice and mannerisms. When you deal with someone like that. You have to approach them (differently). It goes from 0-100 in a blink of a eye. It obvious he can't be told anything. Basically, I'm assuming Godfrey let him "shine". Because he worked to hard to let a cat like that? Disrupt his comedic flow! Lol.

Awesome opportunity for Godfrey and this is why he is so talented and not more popular. Just teach and leave it alone. Edit: T. I. came across as a disrespectful. Headliners close show period

@@logicalblackman8228 The kind of fucking etiquette that is demonstrated in all of the other 674 block comedy shows I have attended whereby the comic headliner is the pinnacle/apex of the show and the host for the night comes out afterwards and says something along the lines of "God bless good night get home safe." And I never saw where Godfrey put him down. He made that ABUNDANTLY clear. T.I. overreacted PERIOD. But niccas is always making something out of nothing. im done.

@@coreymoney i’m glad you’re done, because you didn’t say anything factual. There’s nothing that says someone can’t come on and do a few minutes after the headliner. It’s unusual, but doesn’t violate any etiquette. TI is a novice comic; so there is no disrespect or possibility of him “overshadowing” Godfrey. And if you watch the original podcast, you’ll see that Godfrey and the guests definitely were portraying the whole thing in a negative light.

I understand the points all were trying to make. It will be interesting to see how doing standup for 4 weeks and basically jumping into a 35 min set off the rip affects T.I.’s ability to grow as a comedian and capture the crowd with non-stop (stomach and side hurting can barely breathe) laughter for an entire show as opposed to learning how to develop your craft and stage performance in smaller increments (and on small stages) as a novice in the comedy industry.

TI has a lot to learn. He doesn’t wanna listen to anything anyone has to say that’s been in the game longer than him. He has a lot to learn about the comedy game. Either he’s gonna listen or he’s gonna bomb out. But he needs to stop thinking that he knows everything damn thing. Ppl are gonna take shit and interpret it however they want. So, he shouldn’t get mad at the game until he first learns it.

Godfrey and other comedians probably remember being a hungry unknown and how they got to where they’re at now. I can see why they’d feel some type of way about someone who is already famous crossing over into comedy. I think if TI wants to do comedy its cool. The crowd will let him know if he’s good or not

Only thing he tore up was the green room after they laughed at him. 😂

I'm actually disappointed godfrey didn't stand his ground or atleast keep the same energy when he talked about the TI situation on a different episode. Which is fake so godfrey can't say he a realmothafucka when he wasn't being 100% with TI. All he did was be submissive saying he's a super star and blah blah blah more kiss ass words. Everyone if not alot of people feel like there funny and there life is interesting. TI saying he has respect for these comedians and not actually trying to listen to them is not having respect for godfrey or any of these comedians. TI said he could have made 100,000 but decided to perform comedy that day. Bruh that 100,000 probably meant nothing to him. I assume he's rich so, to make it seem likes he's doing comedians a favor is disingenuous . TI just wants someone to listen to him, tell stories and live a comedy star fantasy. Which is fine but acknowledge your privilege. Godfrey had an opinion he didn't like and broke TI out of his comedy star fantasy that's why he was upset. Not alot of people would ask to perform behind a comedy star/headliner, if you actually did have respect for them or your ego/arrogance is large enough to think that you could perform after them. Does the term "save the best for last" not ring any bells ? Honestly I don't think godfreys stand up is that funny or funny at all but, I watched godfreys stand up vs TI's. Godfreys comedic stage presence and performance is actually amazing and on par with alot of comedians; Who I actually find funny which is only about 5 to 4 comedians .His jokes just don't hit that much or at all to me but, his impressions are A1. I watched TI's stand up imo there's no feeling in it he talks in one tone and tells stories he thinks is interesting. TI is not in godfreys league when it comes to comedy so, why would you perform after him. I think Godfrey wasn't being all the way truthful when he said he doesn't watch other comedians because his netflix segment on his Nigerian cousins visiting and arie spears comedy segment on African men is very similar. Godfrey mixed his old African people stand up with aries spiers African men stand up. Go watch it if you think I'm lying and come to your own conclusion. Again I'm not hating on godfrey these are just facts. Godfrey saying "look I took the bashing" is him just justifying not standing his ground when being confronted. Everbody in that room bent over for TI besides Ali sadiq. Ali didn't speak because he knew the vibes. TI said I'm not a comedian I'm a superstar... That line right there tells you all you need to know that he doesn't actually have respect for comedy. Godfrey was most likely afraid to loose whatever's he's built or could be built by upsetting TI. Which is fine but, be honest with yourself and instead of telling yourself bullshit to justify not keeping the same energy when confronted. This wasn't about a black man tearing down another black man. This was about TI using his super star privilege to perform after a seasoned vet that no starting comedian would have been able to do without some sort of status or money. Ali sadiq was the only real one at that table.
