This is a just a theory, but some of these might have been the original Trackmaster redesigns Fisher Price was going for in 2014 (Which are just slightly modified versions of what already existed), but they decided to scrap all of them and completely redesigned the trains from the ground up. That's probably why Charlie's body is all in 1 mold, and that's why you can separate the tenders on Gordon, Edward, and Henry. That's also why Edward has a different wheel arrangement. That is also probably why there are more cheap-looking sticker decals on the cabs.

since trackmaster was released sparingly here in my country in asia, the knock off models are great for finding the missing narrow gauge models, like duke and Petersam

Also bill and Ben uses the same battery chassis as Donald /Douglas not the running board but the chassis and that’s why their running on bill/Ben is a bit longer(also explaining the 0-6-0 wheels)

There's 1 good thing about knockoffs, you can make Custom oc's with them

For the Trackmaster knockoffs in my opinions felt bad for me because, 👇 If you get one of these diesel engines: - Diesel - Paxton - Arry & Bert - Splatter & Dodge I really hate the incorrect configuration design of the SIDE RODS if you look closely because its like separated or broken, not like the real Trackmaster version. But sometimes a few knockoff diesel engine models if you’re lucky to find or have one have the correct SIDE RODS arrangement just like how I found UnluckyTugs TOMY collection of Arry & Bert.

Some minor misinformation, but very informative enough. I’m pretty sure there were no replaced designs, just some knock-offs have more than one variant, some minor differences were not mentioned (Like basically all of them sometimes have unpainted buffers). Some missing; Like for the 08’s, most, if not all of them are not directly a copy of their official counterparts, the siderod on their left side has two of the crank pins molded on the other side by mistake. Or how Peter Sam has a fully painted (Based on the Fisher-Price design) version which is less common than the less detailed version. All the same, very well done.

For the Arry and Bert, you can just swap the chassis. Lol

I hate bootleg thomas merch, especially these, although a few can be good as customs, mainly for the 08 gang and gordon, like for one of the bootleg diesels they can just be a shunter from the other railway and the bootleg gordon can be useful for a flying scotsman custom.

I think the Trackmaster knockoff Gordon uses the rc 3 speed Gordon mold, and his tender is actually James's, which Edward also uses. Edwards original tender had a little bit of a foot plate on the front.

Well I do Stephen was actually the second gen 1 trackmaster engine I had and he was really cool with his piston being different out of the others

I've only thought of getting these knock offs to get the gears broken on the motor of the older ones I've found that are official so I can fix them since Google couldn't help me and Trackmaster custom never tells me where he gets his gear and Amazon screwed me over the first time I tried to find the gear that goes between the drive wheels. That and maybe custom characters

I got rip off Bert and the motor died in packaging so I can still play with it we cut the thing that makes the wheels click we broke that off so it works

Luke has only 4 drive wheels!

I kinda want to find the 4-4-0 knock off Edward tbh

This may be a bit of a weird comparison, but the knockoff Stanley kinda looks like what would happen if you merged Trackmaster with the My First Thomas engines made by GoldenBear. Just with how they made the engines very simplified and have basic shapes. Of course those toys were cute, whereas the knockoff. Is gross.
