I miss this version of her all the time

SZA got me through the aftermath of an emotionally abusive relationship. I am grateful. I still struggle to this day, but she seems to read my soul and relay every part of me in her lyrics. She captures the complexity of human emotion in every single song. I am grateful.

6 years later & this song still hits home.. i remember being 17-18 being so drunk & going thru it, listening to this song got me through those tough times & now i’m 22.. & all i got say, for anyone reading this.. believe me i know it’s hard to believe but everything gets better.. i didn’t believe that shit when it was told to me either, but it does get better.. you’ll learn how to love yourself, you’ll learn how to be yourself again.. & if no ones told you, i’m proud for how far you’ve gotten.. thank you, sza for this gem.. i couldn’t of done it without this song..

It's been 6 years since I heard this song, and I just heard it this morning again and I went down crying. Been 6 years since the love of my life left me because I was weak, and after that I went almost 6 years struggling with alcohol. I recognize that it was my fault the relationship didnt work and alcohol did not help me get through my problems. But now I've been getting better, finally fighting back. This song is very beautiful, hope it helps more people put there. You can live a happy life without these things, just dont drink for the wrong reasons, it will kill you slowly.

She said in an interview that she went through a stage in her music career where she just made ethereal metaphorical styles of music. Artist cjange throughout there career but that way you habe they're demos of music to appreciate their growth and to go back and enjoy her body of work. She didnt change she just evolved as i like to see it.
