Why would anyone do that? It's like mastering bike and suddenly, a guy with a motorcycle comes and challenges you in a race. Of course he'll win. That's not the point.

I did Systema a while ago and actually he could have hit, but he spares it so the enemy doesn't have to receive an impact thus he doesn't need to soften the impact by rolling backwards or falling etc. it is just to save time and demonstrate faster. In training we always hit with power. When demonstrating continuously several angles and perspectives you just "ghost punch" them to show from which direction it would come from and how he/she would react. The enemy who are supposed to be hit also "ghost fall" just to absorb the impact if the trainer would really hit. If you go into the direction the punch is heading to, you take a little bit of impact out of the punch. So yeah just for demonstration purposes and to spare the "victim" if a real demonstration have been showed already.

From what I understand, "no contact" techniques come from the general understanding that a fist coming towards you, hurts. The same goes with something you aren't aware of. So if you know a fist, or any other body part, hurts, when it comes barreling toward you, you tend to see it as a stop sign before you can even think of what it is, or how to react(it's similar to a "flinch" when you see a notably scary scene in a movie). Normal people tend to freeze up at this stage, so when he continues the forward movement, people tend to try to move out of the "line of attack". In doing this, the attacker can somewhat control the other persons movements. I don't believe these movements are telegraphed. I'm sure they're just demonstrating it, but it seems to have some use in certain situations where the attacker has the upper-hand and other person knows your hits will do them harm. What I like about this art, is the psychology behind it. They don't try to use force on their "opponents", rather, they go with their movements, then "break" them when they're vulnerable.

ROSS isn't much different than this. I looked forward to getting my ass kicked every week. If you can't deal with this training in a school, you will have a tough time surviving a real fight.

Trying to kick a Systema guy never works out very good

This acting makes systema looking fake. Not good. It looks like shadow boxing. I can accept sem-semi-semi contact, but shadow is just sad. It forces me to cry or belive. I want to see proof from a master.

At full speed the fat bastard could kill any professional fighter(from any martial art) in their prime within a few seconds and the professional fighter would never see it coming(this includes tyson in his prime, george st pierre in his prime, ali in his prime, all the gracies in their primes). Systema is taught to the Russian spetznas, they are equivalent to american green berets combined with cia assassins. Mikhail and Vladimir are ex spetznas. Meaning they were both once assassins, what kind of missions do russian spetznas assassins get? They get missions to regularly hunt and kill jason bourne type people. Jason bourne would get one shotted by mikhail ryabko. You know nothing. In a fight to the death the only things that matter are inertial movement control and unpredictability, systema meticulously teaches both.
