​@@JohnMillard-gy9lqwhy not? Sounds like a great deal for a fully completed product. It's certainly way better than paying $80 and hope they fix it later. Haha I will admit that the launch isn't going as smoothly as it should though. Dunno why there's no exact time of release listed anywhere.

I'm baffled by this review. I wanted to know how this game handled on controller vs a mouse and keyboard - how does the game cycle through weapons and cyber implants? How does the game handle inventory management with a controller? I wanted a rundown of the console version, not synopsis of a game that's been out for over a year now.

You cycle through your hotbar using the dpad. Puzzles and your inventory are interacted with using a cursor, controlled by the right analog stick and □ / X. Sprinting requires you press and hold your analog stick in, as opposed to press and go. Toggling the left analog stick allows you to lean, useful when taking cover. I wish NightDive took a page out of Prey 2017's book with the control scheme. The lean mechanic as it is implemented now feels jank, while in Prey 2017 it felt natural to have leaning left/right bound to R1/L1 RB/ LB.

I was playing PS1 games in the 90s so it’s great to revisit PC games I was unaware of

Pre-ordered on PS5 last night as I’d forgotten it was being released this week. Have been looking forward to this one for some time. Now, if only someone would dive back into the original Deus Ex and remake that beauty.

@@ethanwashoe5868 runs really well. I’ve heard mouse and keyboard controls work which is a good thing.

Is it worth it? Absolutely! System Shock is one of those games that you have to play at least once in your life. The gameplay, story, graphics, challenging gameplay...it is sublime. If you are a fan of Deuce Ex, if you love Bioshock or any other game of that caliber, you owe it to yourself to see where it all got started. Having said that, I would be remiss if I did not mention some of its shortcomings. Chiefly, the way enemies look and react during combat. Unfortunately, they have an almost rubber like quality and don't look quite right when you're busting them up with your pipe. I'm also not very keen on the look of random objects when you're really close to them. They look very...chunky, which really looks odd, especially when compared to everything else (in 4K@60FPS w/Ray Tracing). Other than that, the game is rock solid and deserves to be played by everyone. Hopefully, System Shock sells well enough that we get a remaster of System Shock 2! Addendum- System Shock is better than any new game releasing today. The game is pure escapism that is interested in telling you a compelling story despite who you are. The writing makes what passes as a storyline today a huge joke. None of the garbage that is foisted on us by money grabbing cretins is found in this game. Buy it, play it, and love it for its ability to captivate on its own merits.

I tried it but wasnt crazy about it, the combat felt janky and the enemy hit responsiveness leaves a bit to be desired. It also felt like an endless series of hallways. I wanted to like it cause how much I love bioshock. Maybe ill try it again if it goes on gamepass

Deuce Ex Remake I Hope After This

I got it for the regular Xbone. It's good. Just completed medical so far on 2/2/2 difficulty. The game has relatively long loading times, and it tends to lag for a few seconds directly after loading a save, going between floors on the station, entering/exiting cyberspace (basically anytime it renders a new area), but nothing game breaking or super crazy. Not sure if this is a problem on other systems, but I'm assuming it's mostly due to the dated system I'm playing off of.

And it's on disc ..so yes I am buying this game..

I preordered this as it looked a certainty - thanks for appeasing any slight concerns, just got to wait for Jeffy B to deliver it on Wednesday ⚒️

Agreed completely unreliable

The difficulty settings are not new in the remake, the 1994 original was the same. The original had 4 levels of difficulty for each of the categories while the remake only has 3 levels for each category. The original had a level 0 for each category that made that category very easy or disabled it entirely making it auto win.

Looks fun!

The difficulty options have always been there...

This game did not have advertising and was almost not talked about

THE GAME MOST NEVER HEARD OF: I wish they would remaster the FPS game called ''Unreal''. Remaster 1-2. This is the game that launched the most popular game engine that we know now as ''Unreal Engine''. Which is what was used to power ''Unreal''. It was the first game to utilize the engine. Which is why it was simply named after it...''Unreal''. Most young gamers today don't even know about it, and when you mention it they assume you're talking about the engine. Not knowing there was actually a FPS called ''Unreal''. And it was THE best FPS game I ever played. It was only on PC and was never released for any console. Why I don't know, since it was such a freaking AMAZING game.

Getting it on PC Steam today for the 60 fps. Only have a Xbox One S, " not sure if I'm getting a Xbox Series ", and 30 fps won't cut it.

Yeah....I'm not jacking up the difficulty with the puzzles while toning down the combat...that's just stupid. Especially since you did this and then complained about the combat.

Why can't you play it? It is out for every console minus the Switch (thank God). You can play it on an old Xbox One or PS4. I'm deciding between getting it on the Series X or PS5 right now. Digital Foundry says it's amazing across all platforms.

Id rather replay Prey. Id be interested in a System Shock 2 remake on the level of RE4 Remake though.

Go and look up footage or screens of the original. Might better contextualise what they were going for. Either way, it looks amazing. Don't think youtube compression does it many favours

Are you out of your mind? Maybe if you're playing this on a last generation machine. Otherwise, It looks absolutely sick on a Series X or PS5. The game runs in native 4K@60FPS w/Ray Tracing and on a Series X can be played in 120FPS. For reference- We (fiancee and I) grabbed two copies of System Shock. I am playing it on our Series X and she on our PS5. The word phenomenal doesn't begin to describe it. Now, we need System Shock 2!

Abandoning this review, thanks to the *irritating* trying-wayyyyyyy-too-hard presenter. Bye.

I don't understand... how did they "abandon the review?" I mean, they talk about making the combat really easy, then complain that it was easy. All while talking about upping the difficulty on the puzzles... what is that garbage about?

Why is every reviewer picking the female hacker? It can’t be poetically motivated at all right? Right?
