Time to review Toxicity and remind ourselves of what great music sounds like!
I understand that there is a lag issue and am working on correcting the "dropped frames" of this and the last few videos. I should have it all sorted next week.
In the mean time enjoy the original Music Video without all the crappy lag here: • System Of A Down - Tox...

"There's something about this song that makes me feel powerful!" That's the what I'd say is the unique power of metal and a huge part of why so many people love it. No matter how I'm feeling listening to metal still gives me more power and makes any day a little more bearable, giving you a bit of a push to help you keep going

that seems sadly not uncommon for Kens videos I find, I think he either needs a stronger pc (cpu specifically) for recording video while streaming video himself or he may need a capture card to take the stress off his cpu so it can encode the video at full speed.

The chaotic or disjointed feeling you're getting from the lyrics may be due to the fact that, according to Daron Malakian, the song was written about ADHD.

That melody is pretty, perfectly put #Ken, they are an amazing band, the melodies, harmonies, songwriting, vocals, musicality, the punch that is SOAD, one of the best bands ever. Vital, timeless music legacy that should be in everyones collection. Heavy and as powerful as an F5 tornado, and delicate like a flower in places. A sunflower

Do you want to hear Serj Tankian in a complete different style? Than listen to his version of "The Rains of Castamere" from Game of Thrones. And again I want to ask you if you can take a look at Hanabie and/or BRATS. You said you love it when they brake the rules. Than you will also love Hanabie and BRATS. I will put links to songs where they brake genre rules that sound really amazing. 🤘❤‍🔥 kzread.info/dash/bejne/pqCfycSwnbGfnbQ.html The Rains of Castamere - Ramin Djawadi & Serj Tankian kzread.info/dash/bejne/mKl6xLNmfcjdlto.html Hanabie - Pardon me, I have to go now kzread.info/dash/bejne/p3uij5WLe7nHl6w.html BRATS - Spiderweb

Killswitch engage, with Howard on vocals, not Jesse, and check out end of heartache as a track. Howard's vocals are so smooth, like melting chocolate, and then when he switches to his screams and guttural.. its just fab.

Love your reactions. I would recommend listening to the studio recording with lyrics in front of you or with them subtitled over the screen? Especially if you're going to try and pick apart any of what they are saying. But I also don't recommend watching a music video at the same time. Watching the video can distract you from. Really trying to hear the lyrics.

I know I am a wee bit late, and not sure if anyone has said this, but...a part of that fast vibrato Serj has comes from the Armenian heritage. You want another fast, powerful vibrato, and I'm still working my way through your reactions, so I don't know if you've done her yet....get down on some Beth Hart. Her voice is just...if butter had a child a child with a hot knife....yanno what...it's late. I'm probably not making sense >.>

So SoD don't tend to have a traditional narrative structure to their songs. It's not a story, or even an idea. SoD is a vibe, that's the only way I can explain it. They create these like, lyrical sense poems that tend to induce in you a primal level of emotion, a proto-emotion almost. The lyrics are often absurdist, deliberately so, although many do contain fragments of the bands experience as part of the Armenian-American community (the eating seeds line is a direct reference to that community, for example).

This isn’t necessarily true. Most SOAD songs do have a meaning or a story to them. Some are just them joking around, others are maybe more open-ended for the listener to interpret, but most songs have a clear meaning to them. I do think Toxicity kinda falls into the middle group; it’s relatively open-ended in that it can be used to refer to toxicity on any scale, but I think it’s mostly in reference to America’s issues

Apparently eating sunflower seeds is a common thing in the Armenian-American community & this line is a reference to that. The band would see unemployed guys in their neighbourhoods just sitting on the corner all day, eating sunflower seeds & wasting away.

@ 3:21...I've long believed this. My mom took up banjo years ago, and one time she was talking about how you play it (not the process, but rather where the banjo 'fits' in along with other instruments in a piece). I remember getting annoyed when she explained that a banjo just kind of accentuates a song, and there isn't really a place for a 'lead banjo', like a lead guitar. I pretty much told her I thought that was bullshit, and you can absolutely go full Jimi on a banjo, slay the solo, then smash that thing on the stage and light it on fire. If you don't know the 'rules', you cannot be bound by them.
