And humans need to drastically reduce the consumption of plastic by not buying huge bottles of liquid detergent, there are laundry sheets now. And the cases of water, juice or other drinks in smaller bottles to make peeps lives easier, I guess that's why they buy them, that needs to end now. Stop making them. They're filled with tap water!

@@keithb6717 To be fair, even if all plastic is stopped from being dumped in the oceans, cleaning at least the biggest bits would still be beneficial. But even if they clean up 10 tons per day with 2 ships (here it's a big haul, but they also spend time in port and so on), you'd need a fleet of 5000 ships to offset the plastic dumped in the oceans. Assuming they're all really this successful all the time. That being said, while it's a huge number, the amount of boats used for fishing and depleting our oceans is counted in the millions. So it adds pollution, but when you scale up other issues, it's not that terrible either. Still I agree that this isn't much at all and is done with a lot of drawbacks.

@@keithb6717 That's an interesting concern, however I can reassure you that the average ship does not use more than 18 tons of fuel in such a short period of time. And the carbon footprint is pretty well offset by the recycling of tons of plastic, as each piece of plastic recycled prevents new plastics from having to be produced. Thus the project is actually, I believe, carbon negative. Especially when you factor in the Interceptors, which accomplish the same goal while using no fuel at all.

Amazing work big companies should be taxed more to fund these clean ups also I hope we can heavily reduce single use plastic

Amazing! System 03 is clearly an excellent design. Congratulations! And thank you for doing this much needed work and for posting this video. The Great Waves of Change are here, and we all need to be doing so much more to restore the planet. It is encouraging to see the progress you've made in such a short time. There's hope yet!

You are a dedicated and amazing group of people! Please, every time you give details of your success, could you mention that the production of so much plastic created this problem and we need to address it at the source if we are to be truly successful. Thank you for all you do! Hopefully with combined efforts of less production of plastic packaging and your marvellous project, the oceans will be clean and full of life again. ❤
