“This Was the First Step of System 03”

Ғылым және технология

System 03 has completed its first journey to the GPGP and is bringing home over 45 tons of plastic. See up close as our crew use in-the-field modeling data to hunt plastic hotspots across the Pacific, while we test our new Marine Animal Safety Hatch to make sure we’re only catching plastic - not fish. When I drive around on a garbage pickup day I see garbage cans just overflowing of trash along with gobbs of empty Amazon boxes I just can imagine having that much trash every week. I normally have 1/2 of a 3 gallon bag once every week! Maybe the garbage company should start charging $20.00-$30.00 a pound that would open some eyes. As for the litter bugs, when caught a fine equal to a years salary and a community service of 12 tones of trash pickup

@overthemountain3z3 yeah I know that's why we are doomed, maybe not in 10 or 20 years but it will happen. I haven't used any plastic in a good 10 years. It can be done just takes a few months to figure it out and do it . But I'm old fashion my kids had cloth diapers and breastfeed baby food was made at home always used cloth towels instead of paper towels. I'm perty much a cheapskate with a small footprint

Honestly, watching the progress of development, and seeing how much you fish out of the ocean, it's inspiring. Whenever I walk the dog where there are no trashcans these days, I bring a bag to gather garbage in. And for everyone that lives near the sea. Picking garbage works. It really does. Because what is picked up goes out of circulation, and won't wash up elsewhere. Here in Norway, we're seeing a big difference from just a couple of years past in how much trash washes up. So while Ocean Cleanup takes care of the sea, we should do our part and pick up what washes back up on land. =)

After watching this, a movie quote came to me, “we’re gonna need a bigger boat”. Now I'm no merchant engineer but a left-field idea take the merchants of ocean death, the factory whaling ships and repurpose them, already have a huge ramps down to the water, huge winches and massive holds to store the plastics. Turn them in to a positive life giving effect on the ocean.

I have followed your channel since KZread recommended it to me during the early days of "System 1." Today watching the video of the current "System 3" makes me appreciate what my family and myself can do to help in your efforts. Shopping at The Ocean Cleanup store is one way, and what we use in our homes daily is another way. Since the very first video, it has stuck with me all the plastic trash just one family of 5 can make. My family now recycles plastic, and everything that says it is recyclable and I am always disappointed with how much "single-use plastic" trash we use. When we started recycling plastics it would fill two to three average-size trashcans monthly, from plastic bags, plastic wraps of products, plastic containers, plastic parts, and more, now we are down to one trashcan. No more turning a blind eye to it all and believing it is someone else's problem. All of you who are part of The Ocean Cleanup, whether on land or sea deserve a huge round of applause, you all are doing a fantastic job. I can honestly say that your job is the job I hope one day none of you will have a need for. Thank you for your eagerness to solve this pollution and deadly problem for our wildlife!

Solution, Involve a 3rd ship that is strictly for plastic processing. Very similar to fishing vessels going to a processing shipinstead of going to shore. This way system 3 can catch continuously while 1 ship does all the sorting continuously. Could also lead to more systems in the water at one time.
