Amazing how they perfectly translated Syriac liturgy to Malayalam. I think in the Indian Marriage, they have a song describing the blessings bestowed upon Adam, Abraham, Issac, Jacob & Joseph in Egypt.

It is in this video as well at 10:23 . You can hear the hymn you are referring to as: Msheeho d-barek L-keene qadmoye hu nbarek L-’abdaw b-sugo d-taybutheh rahem’layn Aloho In the text currently in use in Malankara the stanza is the same except instead of Msheeho the word is Aloho. So if you translate this to Malayalam it will be ആദിമ നീതിജ്ഞരെ വാഴ്ത്തിയ മിശിഹാ തൻ ബഹു കൃപയാൽ. The next stanza that you hear is : Moryo d-barek L-Odom waL-Hawo hu nbarek L-’abdaw b-sugo d-taybutheh rahem’layn Aloho In the text currently in use in Malankara instead of Moryo the word is Aloho. So if you translate this to Malayalam it will be ഹവ്വയോടാദാമിനെ വാഴ്ത്തിയ നാഥൻ തൻ ബഹു കൃപയാൽ. They have omitted some of the remaining stanzas. These type of slight variations between various manuscripts exists in the Syriac Orthodox Church. Even in Malankara before printing there was that kind of variations. When printing started, the copy that existed with the Konatt Malpan got printed and became the standard. If you check old manuscripts with other Malpans I am very sure you can find this variation with some of them as well.

Malankara Indian Orthodox Christian.... I can hear the similar/same tones... Just in Syriac. Btw, what's with the oversized Yamulche for some of the priests? Is that a cultural thing? I know the bishops have the M'sunupsa (phonetically "spelled")

The Syriac Orthodox priests wear two types of head gear. The one that you see in the video that looks like the Jewish skull cap (Yamulche) is part of the liturgical vestment and is worn by the priests when officiating in the liturgy. In a non-liturgical setting, the priests wear a cylindrical hat, the one that you see in Malankara. In Malankara the priests wear the same cylindrical hat which they wear in non-liturgical setting when officiating in the liturgy as well. And it should not be surprising that the tones are similar/same. 100% of the liturgy of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church is from the Syriac Orthodox Church.. and the tones from the Beth Gazo of the Syriac Orthodox Church.

Syriac Orthodox priests wear the 'phiro' (Syriac) which is similar to the Jewish Yarmulke while officiating liturgies. Even monks including bishops wear the phiro under the schema, the head covering of monks. (In Malankara, this is mistakenly called 'masanapsa', a corruption of 'masnaphto' which is the name of the head covering part of the liturgical vestment of a bishop.) The cylindrical hat worn by priests in Malankara is the secular head cover for priests from the days of the Ottoman empire where each minority community was required to strictly conform to dress codes assigned to them. It continues to be used by priests, bishops and Patriarchs in the Middle East, but never in a liturgical setting.

Indian orthodox church has no litturgy of its own.Everything is Antiochian.That is why the Supreme court has ruled that Indian Orthodox saba is apart of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church ,and its Supreme head is the Patriarch of Antioch.

the priests usually adapts the ceremony and incorporates the language that is speaken by the community whether it be Arabic, Turkish, Kurdish or various European languages. I fail to understand why the extreme lmfao was needed, is it really that funny lol?
