I know absolutely zero about any of this other than I love the sounds and the possibilities. I only play guitar but I would love to pick up a keyboard and start to learn about this stuff. Truly fascinating

Grab a Juno 107 or moog Mavis if you wanna learn modular at the same time. It's got the authentic analog Moog sound for a fraction of the price so it ends up being a really cost effective way of getting into synthesis. Since it combines subtractive synthesis and modular synthesis It's just a great way to get into the world of synthesizers. If I could do it over again with this knowledge that I have now I would have done that instead of buying all the other gear that I got and ended up selling just to end up with what I have now, also, another good one, is the East beast or the west pest by cre8audio. Really love that synth and it's only 250 and the Mavis is I believe 300 so comparatively to most other synths like the minilogue and other analog synthesizers other than the Juno 107 which is a good starter and is a full keyboard. If you are going to go with the mog or the west past or east beast I would get a key step from Arturia or the Akai mini plus which is actually a travel size 37 key midi and CV keyboard just like the key step but with a few extra features. Plus it comes with the MPC software. So you can't go wrong with that and using the MPC software with guitar and the plugins that come along with the MPC. You'd have a lot of fun with that. So if I were you and I and wanting to get into this, Go with the key step or the akaii mini plus MK3 or the key step and then add on either the moog Mavis or one of the cre8audio units

Interesting. Envelope vs LFO for PWM? I always use an lfo, you seem to favour envelope (the same envelope as vca?) I’ll try it. Is there a reason for your preference?

Envelope will give consistent results, a free running LFO will give different results depending where it is in the cycle when you press the key. Envelope will sound different in any case, good to try both I guess.
