I didn’t understand why or what was going on with my mom. Now I think back and you cannot tell me the changes weren’t due to menopause. I am thankful for Dr. Mary and other doctors on KZread that have helped me to understand as I transition. I have became my own advocate. I only wished that I would have known the information to help my sweet and wonderful mother. ❤️

I've been taking low-dose HRT since the onset of menopause. I exercise regularly (HIIT training / weight bearing) and take curcumin. I practice intermittent fasting & eat a clean diet with lots of fruit, veg, nuts & seeds. Although I struggled with weight for much of my life, I am now trim & don't have the infamous 'meno-belly'. I feel fortunate. THANK YOU DR. HAVER !!! I WANT TO GIVE YOU A HUG !!! ♥♥♥

Had a biopsy by a male Dr years ago. Was told by my doctor that I did not need anyone to drive me home and didn’t need anything for pain. So far from the truth…it was horrible. Had to pull over on way home the pain was so bad. Thought I was going to pass out and I have a high pain tolerance. I was so mad at this doctor, which I had been seeing for years. Thank you for telling us the truth on so many levels!

I think it would be easier for me to list the symptoms I DON'T have. I'm 54 & have been going through Hell with Perimenopause. To make matters worse I've had Fibromyalgia since my 20s. But in my mid 40s (after 3 miscarriages in my 40s) is when all of these extra, debilitating symptoms began. Fairly rapid weight gain (50 lbs) after being thin my entire life. Horrible hot flashes, intolerance to any temperature over 70°, almost chronic sore breasts, sudden development of rosacea, hair thinning, super dry mouth, my tongue burning, sleep disorder, anxiety through the roof, feet cramping & hurting so much that I can't walk for hours at a time, crying over stupid things, becoming more introverted, dry skin, restless leg syndrome, chronic nausea, GERD, high blood pressure, increased heart palpitations, IBS, ear aches, frequent sore throat, weird skin rashes, frequent UTIs, etc. I have been tested for EVERYTHING including diabetes, thyroid, Lupus, vitamin & mineral deficiencies, etc. I have low Vitamin D, so I am taking 1, 250 mcg of Califerol weekly as prescribed by my doctor. I'm taking Probiotics which have provided some relief from IBS. I haven't had any caffeine since May 2020, I have a low fat diet, eat plenty of fiber, drink tons of water (about 2-3 liters daily), etc. Three times I went 11 months without a period & then Aunt Flow shows up saying, "Surprise!" I had the Mirena IUD put in at 45 immediately after my last miscarriage (and replaced again at age 50) to prevent pregnancy but also to decrease the heavy flow of my periods I have had all of my life since I was 11 years old. I'm afraid to have the IUD removed because I don't want heavy periods or to become pregnant (my youngest child is turning 30 this year!). My doctor has checked my hormones so many times & keeps telling me that my hormones are within "normal" range. There is NO WAY that this can be true. My body is telling me a completely different story. I don't know what to do. I've tried all of the typical herbal remedies that are supposed to help (Black Cohosh, wild yam capsules, etc.). They haven't helped. My insurance is an HMO, so needless to say that my choice of physicians, tests & treatment are pretty limited. I'm at my wits end. Also, a recent ultrasound revealed that my left ovary has shrunk so much that it wasn't visable. Surely that's indication of crazy hormones or that I am about to reach Menopause, isn't it? Your videos are helpful & informative. Thank you for sharing your experience & knowledge.

Take k2-mk7 with the d3 to make it work properly also boron helps a lot with the menopause symptoms…amino acid therapy also helps…that’s what’s worked for me….doctors don’t know much about women’s health so no help from them…I stumbled on a lot of the data myself trying to manage symptoms I wasn’t aware of being part of menopause lol

When I started having heavy periods I found out a few years in that I had no detectable levels of progesterone in my body .was also low on testosterone too at the age of 47 ..once starting the BHRT cream my periods just stopped . It was a blessing to me .I went from being a mental wreck to calm cool and chilled once again.... added eatradiol to the mix a couple of years back ..I think I need more as I have had symptoms appearing that I dont like .. find a doc that does bio identicals .u will have to pay out of pocket for the visits but labwork is covered with insurance for me .. I hope u can figure this out for your health 😊

I loved this post - my first but not last intro to you Dr Claire. I am soooo pumped to hear of the benefits of HRT when started before 60... I had heard it was when started before 50.... I'M 57 and I've been on HRT bio identical for 2 years now after 10 years of working with peri menopausal and menopausal symptoms only the 'natural way' through supplements, lifestyle choices (yoga, exercise, good body weight, balanced diet, listening to my body more, voicing my needs more, learning to say no). I was afraid of HRT's... it is only when I heard of the benefits of HRT and of the new data to support it that I changed over. I have tried so many things (menopause supplements, herbs) and nothing... nothing has given me more results than HRT. Hot flashes were not even my primary motivation for going on HRT... but wow they are gone and the other symptoms (which were horrible... mental changes, anxiety, feeling blah, waking up because of adrenaline rush in the middle of the night, becoming more self critical and lots of self doubt, impatient, inner rage, skin issues - eczema, feeling cold and chilly then hot flashes, insomnia, oversensitive, hamster wheel brain - sometimes songs would play endlessly in my mind, sore feet, a case of very bad hip pain that would wake me at night, chest pains, worse allergy sensitivity, ... but now I feel 80% better. That is huge. The rest I've recognized depends on how much sleep I get , regular time out for myself, keeping active but also giving myself time to rest, eating well... and just recently I've decided to add muscle building to help my bones get stronger. Thank you for being part of the solution.

I’m 62 now & still lifting heavy weights, etc. My Gyno put me also on oral progesterone as she said there are benefits other than protecting the uterus which I no longer have (or ovaries). I'm in my late 40's and i've had a terrible brain fog for the past year or two. Also had the shoulder joint problems. And I get hot flashes at night and keep waking up so I'm up at 3 am most nights. So all in all probably a perimenopausal mess. Would you recommend HRT for me? Thank you! And BTW I have also put myself first and now I know why 😊 Happy New Year!! 🎉

NAC….it will make it go away…I get it from Swanson supplements online…it’s an amino acid that helps the mucosal lining in the lungs etc…it also helps with the mood etc as an added bonus…but u have to take consistently cuz it builds up to fully working….the body needs extra nutrients at the stage in life and we don’t get much nutrients from our food anymore so all the symptoms are ur body trying to tell u what it’s needing…and since we aren’t told anything about our health and physiology anymore, so many of us are low in nutrients and high in bad stuff like candida…once the body starts struggling it starts having problems keeping up with the normal daily functions…these are the moments when stuff like candida start to become chronic and causing even more symptoms and illnesses…dental problems and brain fog bad….one way to tell if ur high in candida in ur gut is if u suffer from yeast infections….we are told it’s normal to have a yeast infection after the monthly visitor but that’s so not true…any infection is saying that the body has had some sort of stress out on it and it’s not able to manage these issues so u have symptoms…symptoms are the body speaking to us and working so we just have to figure out what it’s needing.,,,and that’s fuel in order to thrive…vitamin k2-mk7, d3, boron, amino acids and all the B vitamins especially…and the tests the doctors run aren’t accurate when considering things that are happening in our bodies….we need more of the above mentioned vitamins especially because we are women and at that age…to prevent bone loss….so why aren’t doctors telling all women this? They don’t care and have a lot of other things to fix like broken bones…those are the big money for them…diagnostics aren’t as profitable and neither are wellness checkups ….so we have to figure it out on our own apparently…I’ve improved my own health tremendously and have a whole new outlook in the healthcare and wellness field/topic…what they tell us is not the truth…and is actually causing more harm then anything

DIM is an aromatase inhibitor, meaning it stops testosterone from aromatizing into estrogen. She is right, it doesn't technically lower estrogen but it's not quite as she says. It's like the doctor saying the pill doesn't cause weight gain, and you find out that it instead causes insulin resistance, which itself leads to weight gain. Technicalities, but yes, the pill is associated with weight gain and DIM does affect estrogen levels. I am using DIM now with my hrt and i think it helps me feel better. I can concentrate better. My testosterone is in the high normal range for a non perimenopausal woman so it's higher than it was before DIM. I think it's okay to experiment. DIM is not expensive.

I’ve had these symptoms since age 32 and they have gotten worser. Last child I had in 2019 at age 39, sex drive once was low now it’s non existent, I’m a mean bitch to my kids and grand kids, I have insomnia so I work at night, I’m just realizing I am perimenopausal and may be entering menopause soon( still have periods but they are irregular and have been for years). I’m sad but overjoyed to know I’m not alone, not crazy( yet), not dieing of cancer( aging towards death) but still glad my depression isn’t me being mentally disabled. I’m going the naturapathic route. Lifestyle/ diet changes. I wish it were local support groups that us women could meet up at and discuss our journey in person as group counseling or something. I really thought I was dieing, had long covid(even though I have not had it or the vaccine), I don’t know rather to scream, shout or laugh, right now I just want to cry.😢 I’m 43 and it feels like my body is breaking down.😔

Ozempic slows the emptying of the stomach and helps to control the feeling of satiety. I am on them because my A1C has gone up. I eat clean keto so there is only one explanation for it- menopause. I’ve lost 9 lbs since I started Ozempic. On 10 units and doing well. I’m also doing residence training and Pilates along with yoga and walking. I am carrying extra weight that I’ve gained over the 7-8 yrs of undiagnosed peri - 30 lbs (had already lost 30 prior to Ozempic) gained 60 lbs total) - also have clinical depression, severe adhd Currently on testosterone replacement after 2 yrs of no help and a horrible estrogen replacement fiasco with an “absent” provider. My PCP was/is still of no help. Considering adding estrogen to testosterone and getting mirena again had one for 5 yrs before going menopausal. It’s mostly why I didn’t realize perimenopause . happening.

I barely noticed menopause. Only the changes in my period. I'm not saying I was symptoms free. But my symptoms could be related back to other health issues. At 63 I just decided to try hormone replacement therapy. Why, for other symptoms. When you have other health issues it's easy to contribute all your symptoms to them. I have environmental allergies, my vitamin D dips on the low side. My allergies took a turn for the worse when I was going through peri-menopause. Then there was the unexplained change in my bowel habits.

I have constipation and bloating especially from the beginning of the month I don't have. I've been going through it for five years now. Menopause has lots of body aches and like a metal tasting my mouth. Please help and I start taking the the hormonal replacement. Do I take them both or just the estrogen? And what kind of a test should do for all these symptoms? The worst for me is the bloating, constant patient, nausea and migraines and body aches. Kind of eating healthy meditating doing everything and again extra pounds and now I'm losing them. Thank God I just want to stop the body pain. Please help. Daisy from Vancouver. It's so irritable and discontent. When I'm feeling like this it takes my self-esteem away. I'm a big fan of yours. Please you're the only hope left and God

If you have had an ablation and are prescribed pessaries I was wondering do you recommend these or do they fall into the same category as Pellets? And does pessaries contradict having an ablation. For example the ablation is done to stop bleeding but the pessaries can cause bleeding (warning detailed within the product information sleeve). Is there a better option?

Re the saliva tests for cortisol, I'd just like to say that you can have cortisol issues without Cushing's or Addison's disease. I live in the UK, a blood test may be borderline and GP's will tell you that you're fine. However you can feel the negative effects of adrenal issues without levels being extremely abnormal. Having recovered from adrenal fatigue (I know that most medical practitioners do not recognize this term but it's very real) I certainly felt the effects of prolonged stress and hormone fluctuations, anxiety, heart palpitations, extreme fatigue. I didn't feel the need to have a salivary or blood cortisol level done but used diet and exercise plus meditation and yoga etc to bring my levels of stress down and get my life back. My peri symptoms feel extremely similar to the adrenal fatigue so please don't poo-poo people who are experiencing these symptoms and are looking for answers. They will be told they are grand by a GP if they ask for a blood test. Shame, but in the UK if it isn't in the NICE guidelines,it doesn't exist!

42:19 I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy 1/2/24. I am 65 and had post menopausal bleeding. (I had an ultrasound and D&C where several small fibroids were found. The biopsy was negative.) I still have my ovaries. I am still on Estradiol (2mg) and Progesterone (200 mg) I’m questioning if I need the progesterone since I had my cervix removed. (I also had my uterus and tubes removed) I was released 3/2/24. I haven’t had any issues other than extreme fatigue. My PCP done blood work and all was good. Should I question my GYN Dr. about the fatigue and progesterone since I had my cervix removed? Thank you for sharing all your knowledge to all women!
