Symptoms of Hodgkin's Lymphoma

This question has been asked by a few youtubers that have been watching my videos, but I also get this question a lot from friends. "What were the symptoms you had before you knew you had Lymphoma, and what prompted you to go to the doctor in the first place?" ... Here is my response to this...
Here is my new e-mail just for you youtubers :)

I can't personal message you as I'm on my iPod, but I remember watching this video around 7 months ago, and I can't thank you enough for posting this. I watched this just after I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, it helped me so so much and made me realise that I'm not alone. I've come back to this video so many times over these past few months, I can't begin to explain how amazing you are. Ive just turned 17 and I have my last chemo today, I thought my past six months were hard with treatment but I couldn't imagine having radiation aswell. You're so brave it's unbelievable. Thank you so much for posting this video. You've helped me more than you realise! x

Honestly thank you so much for making videos about lymphoma - I feel like you hear so much about breast cancer but I had honestly never heard of mine before being diagnosed. The scary thing is it can literally happen to anyone - so awareness is crucial. To anyone reading this, it us better to be safe than sorry - if you suspect something is wrong with your health, it's never stupid or crazy to seek medical help x

Were the night sweats every night? I had a fever for two days a few weeks ago and I had night sweats at least 1-3 times a night but not every night. The night sweats went away but I still have a small lump in my neck. I thought maybe it was just swollen from being sick but it's been 3 weeks now and it hasn't gone away so I'm just getting a little worried.

I want to say you’re absolutely beautiful! Your video has helped me a lot. I’ve had swollen lymph nodes in my neck for about 5 weeks now. A recent CT scan has shown those lymph nodes plus a gland in my head called the thalamus being affected. I’m being referred to a head & neck specialist for a biopsy. The things I’ve been struggling with have been exhaustion, extreme night sweats & headache. I’m not sure what to think. Thank you for spreading awareness

thank you so much for this video! I am also 21 years old and have just started this process of trying to diagnose what is going on in my body. I have a biopsy this coming march to take out one of my lymph nodes to check it for lymphoma, my nodes in my neck are swollen to 3cm. This video helped so much to understand common symptoms. When I read things online they make it seem like you must be showing ALL symptoms to have lymphoma, I actually went to the doctor for severe chest pains a few months back and thought nothing of it, just some really bad acid reflux is what they said and to go home and to this day those pains are common for me. Thank you so much for sharing your story, I feel as though watching this has helped me understand what I might face and be going through. Thank you again!!

Thanks for the video. I was just diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I didn't have any symptoms, except the itching which I attested to the dry weather too. I happened to notice a nodule in my collar bone (lymph node) area that grew quite rapidly over a month's period so I brought it up with my doctor. Went through all of the tests and now I'll be starting chemo - less than a month after noticing. Crazy how things work out.

I have three weeks left of chemo. Be glad when that is over and my Port is removed. The Heartburn, night sweats and the swelling on the left side of my neck and armpit were the main symptoms for me. I still kept piddling around about going to the doc, like an idiot. But we had a snowfall of about a foot. Tried to walk across the yard and I had to stop to catch my breath. I was 26. That was the point where I knew it was time. Went into the doc, she pretty well guessed it within minutes and scheduled a biopsy immediately. I was stage 4 and my left lung was full of fluid. The GP had recommended an excellent Oncologist who started me on ABVD chemo. It is quite an experience sitting in that room, hooked to the machine and looking at the people around you. I know what you mean about being the youngest in the room, I only saw one other my age. Most were at least 20 years older. Have to say I have met some wonderful people during this experience though. the Doctors and the Nurses really don't get the recognition they deserve.

same, he told me the white blood cell count was enough and that 100% it would show. I was worried until i saw that my dad has them too and his had them for like 20 years so i doubt its anything serious.

Aztec Lordu it ended up "being nothing" but "anxiety" even though it's still there and symptoms haven't changed. i got tested for lymes but that came up negative even though the test has two parts and the first usually shows a false negative. they never did the second part. so who knows. maybe when i'm dead someone will figure it out. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I started my chemotherapy treatment soon after diagnosis and like you, I was told it was a common cancer from our age group but I was the only one in my therapy from this age group. When the chemotherapy begins, I found my symptoms from the disease went immediately, only to be replaced with the side effects of chemo. Anyway, I had my last treatment on 31st October 2006 and have remained in remission since. I know have yearly check ups( first every 3 months, then 6months, but now every year)

Ahh, I'm soo sorry you relapsed with Hodgkin's! This is why I HATE when people say Lymphoma is the "easy" cancer! Keep strong, you got through it once... you can do it again!!!! May I ask, how long had it been from your remission to them re-diagnosing you?? Also, so glad I could make you smile! That makes me happy!!!!

Well thanks for watching and for gaining a more positive attitude! NEVER give up! Your health is most important and I know sometimes we over look what we think are little things. But if you notice something abnormal is ongoing, especially for years at a time, you should get it checked out. Yes, it's terrifying having something going on inside you that you have no idea how or why you got it. And there's really nothing you can do to control it.. other than treatments. Thanks for subscribing

Hi everyone I got diagnosed 3 weeks ago and its stage 4 I didn't have any of the symptoms and even doctors couldn't feel lymph nodes. One morning I woke up with a stomachache and diarrhea it was nothing important but the pain sharpened so then I went to a doctor. I've to say that even if you feel a tiny change in your body or metabolism connect with a doctor don't postpone your health.

Actually my doctors didn't do endless tests they just did ultrasound because I had a stomach-ache that felt like I got stabbed plus diarrhea. 'Though I had non of the symptoms'. With the test they found out that I've splenomegaly. My spleen was double size of what it should be. Maybe you should go see a doctor before its too late.

Thank you for posting this. I have Crohns and I had a flare up and had a biopsy that said lymphoma can not be ruled out. For months now I've been really weak and tired. Having severe night sweats waking up with my hair drenched. severe itching and I feel like I'm losing my mind. I was told it could be stress. Heartburn is awful but I do have Crohns but that heartburn usually comes when I ate or drank something that causes heartburn but lately it's really random. I'm just waiting to have other test done but I'm totally freaking out because I usually bounce back after a flare and I have mild crohns but now I'm just pooped all of the time. Where you able to eat? I'm always nauseous and can't keep food down but also a Crohns symptom. I'm just ready to know what is going on.

@ericagarcia1979 Thank you for sharing, it's hard to hear about symptoms and relate them to yourself, because I know for me I used to be somewhat of a hypochondriac and worry too much, so it's hard to not worry sometimes. I wish you luck at the doctor's and hope everything is ok. It's strange because I couldn't feel any lumps or bumps, and just as you said, my doctor's could all feel the lumps under my arms and in my neck. Scary how they could feel it, yet I couldn't!
