Fantastic video, I now feel brave enough to tackle this job myself. Question: why pipe dope on the inner seat and plumber's grease on the outer seat?

Excellent video. Very detailed and nice camera work. Helped me prepare to tackle this job this week. I just have to figure out what is the best tool for the outer seat as I know most tools they sell online are known for stripping the outer seat.

What is the tool you used to extract the outer seal? I bought a 3/4" pipe extractor and (as Steve noted) that extractor only stripped the inside. Thanks.

It is a 3/4" extractor, but the trick is to cut the end off so you can seat it further into the valve body, get a good grip and then use quick torque to break it free.

Dealing with a problem with my symmons now, replaced cartridges and seats and the temperature fluctuates... even tried the low flow cartridge.... any suggestions??

is that plumber grease you used in the inner part ?
