Sylvester and 2 Tons of Fun

Sylvester was amazing to work with ...really talented, a pro in every sense of the word! Wow....As Cherrill says "In time they will be regarded as nostalgic reflections of the disco era" ...and as we now know they are!

Grace Jones and Sylvester are not "nostalgic reflections" anymore. THEY ARE LEGENDS AND PIONEERS!

his is singing in falsetto a technique this used today.. he had a fantastic voice and technique.if you had a lousy voice you couldn't have a carer during analog, no digital auto-tune to correct your pitch..Thanks to auto=tunes there ar people who couldn't carry a tune in a gallon bucket have careers; all packaging no content, I won't name names,,

The weather girls as backup. They all had great voices. Sylvester was a great talent.
The first time I heard Sylvester, I was literally floored! What a voice, and then I was fortunate enough to see him live. No auto tune, nothing fake about his performance, just pure voice.
Sylvester-so beautiful and so talented! As are Martha and Azora. May Sylvester and Azora rest in peace and Martha live a long life! ❤
I saw Sylvester twice….once when he performed on a float at the Pride Parade and the second time at the Castro Street Fair where the crowd chanted his name until he came to his apartment window when he lived above the Gilded Age antique shop….that was his last public appearance until he passed away…..REST IN PEACE DEAR HEART & THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES !

Wow this brings back memories of the good old days when I live in new jersey
I saw him perform at The Troc in San Francisco---AMAZING!
Mr. Sylvester James was truly one of a kind / One In A Million ... I saw him & his group LIVE in the late 1970's- what a fricking amazing show : Two Tons o'Fun , the band ( with if I recall correctly the incomparable Patrick Cowley on keyboards plus at least 6 other musicians. With real Dry Ice disco fog... They tore it up !!!

Amen! that fog, like I'd died and gone to dance heaven
I love this look the best. Exquisite! I wish I had seen him live in concert. He passed away too young...:-(
I like the way the intro pays respect to the iconic artists of the 50's and affords Disco artists the same importance and respect by comparing them and taking them equally seriously - that is something that very, very rarely happened! Disco rarely comes across well on TV - you need the volume and atmosphere to bring out the real dynamism of it's natural setting - the club. This trio were incredible live. I saw them onstage in concert in London 1979 and the version they did of Dance (Disco Heat) with the extended vocal interplay on the breakdown parts was a life changer for me, a spiritual experience. Where is the show actually from? The ladies are wearing the outfits they wear on their own Two Tons O' Fun album.
