    We have to check the possibility of the statement is true or not. Have to check all possibility to prove it. In this case, right side we can say this region(some paper) is not cycle. So that is enough to say statement is correct.

    In the second question, the 'some paper' part is told to be the region b/w paper and pen, but not paper and tree, on the basis of which the first conclusion is said to be true. 6:38, 7:02 If we take the latter region as 'some paper', the conclusion would be false. But in the 4th question, 'some red' part is considered to be the common region b/w black and red, thus proving the second conclusion to be true. 15:14, 15:29 If the same logic, as in Q.2, is applied in Q.4, the 2nd conclusion in Q.4 would be wrong. Please clear this doubt.

    @@mitalentcreations8523 actually the thing is you have to go according to venn diagrams.. See the qstn 2, the ist statement is 'some trees are paper ' and see the pattern of diagram which you draw for this statement ' you draw a circle namely tree and through its little area you draw another one which is paper and obviously that is some tree and will not be considered as some paper. And in question 4 , you see there similarly the region between black and red will be considered as black region and there is no any ' some' region of red, it is the whole 'some' Or you can say all 'some' and do the question accordingly hope you will get me.

    Thank you for making this information available. However, I am confused about when to use the center of a circle instead of the perimeter of a circle to illustrate the possibility of two parameters having a relationship. At 12:44 - the diagram shows two conflicting methods for illustrating a "SOME" relationship. SOME GOODS is shown as an area in the center of the circle (while he is validating conclusion #3). However, the same diagram shows SOME CHOCOLATE as an area on the perimeter of GOODS the circle (while he is validating conclusion #2). Is there a rule that specifies when we must use the center of a circle instead of the perimeter of a circle in the Venn diagram for SOME relationships? If there is a rule, can someone please explain it or provide a link to the rule. I have followed this series on Syllogism from the first video and I cannot find an answer to my question.

For those having confusion whether to see BASIC or POSSIBLE DIAGRAM, in some "not" concept:- even if one between basic and possible diagram is a cross ( or false) it means conclusion DOES NOT follow. > It's the same as Lesson 2, the "NO" concept which is applied here, where even if one between basic and possible diagram is cross (or false) the conclusion does not follow I hope this makes it clear.

  • @bm0204

    He has explained things beautifully but this bit got a little vague. In 2 and 3, I think what would help would be for instance in case 2. Some cycles are not tree, so there is a possiblity that the circle of cycle lie completely inside the tree circle thus making the statement false because then all cycles would be tree.

  • @bm0204

    @bm0204

    5 жыл бұрын

    Similarly in case 3 there is a possibility that the circle for cycle subsumes the circle for tree then in that case all tree will be cycle thus this makes the statement some trees are not cycle false.

    Read the conclusion carefully. 1st conclusion says some paper are not marker. We need to check this statement is correct or not. You can see that part of paper can never be marker as "paper" is part of "scale" also ( and which is not connected with marker - read the 3rd statement ) : therefore conclusion 1st is true. Now 3rd conclusion says " Some marker are not paper " so our duty is to check whether " some marker are paper or not... We can see form the diagram that paper and marker can be connected. Best way to solve " some not " questions is by looking at conclusions first word.
