    Here's the geometric proof: A square in it's most basic sense is a measure of the area enclosed with 2 equally sized sides right. So if I take a length of 2, move 2 up (positive) and then to the right (positive), I will enclose a square an area of 4 square units. Now if I do this, but the opposite way, 2 down (negative) and 2 left (negative) I will still end up with an area of 4 square units, equal to previous square. Thus x^ = 4 x = +/- 2

    Firstly, that was freaking amazing! It really felt like a movie lol. This was done really amazingly :D Secondly, here's my shot at explaining this: The thing about the square root function, is that it is defined to ALWAYS give a positive value. It's range is from 0 to +ve infinity. There is this step we often miss when writing the answer for the square root function, Which is, √ (x^2) = |x| Now we know the conditions of the mod function are - |x| = +x, if x >= 0, and |x| = (-x), if x This will make it so that the mod never gives a -ve value. We can thus, solve the equation x^2 = 4 like this: Taking square root on both sides, => √ (x^2) = √ 4 => |x| = |2| Now, |2| is just simply +2. But, |x| = +/-x as x is a variable and we do not know if it is positive or negative. This results in, +/-x = 2 We can shift the plus-minus to the RHS, and voila! => x = +/-2 Hope this helped if anyone was confused about this :D

    explanation: when we say √4 We mean the Definite value of the root assuming that the root is always positive. hence √9 = 3 , √16 = 4 and so on when we say x² = 4 we mistake it as x = √4 = 2. Actually this becomes a _Quadratic Equation P(x) = ax² -bx +c = 4_ where b = c = 0. therefore for x² = 4 there are *2* Real roots, One being 2 (2 X 2 = 4) And other: -2 [ -2 X -2 = -1 X -1 X 2 X 2 (taking the negative multipliers (-1) out ) = 1 X 2 X 2 ( since -1 X -1 = 1) = 4 ] hence we denote a (+/-) sign for x² = 4 then x = (+/-) 2. ~Basically~ to indicate that _Numerical Value_ of the root *might be same* but its _Integral Values_ *are different and they are the two zero's of the quadratic equation.*

    Let’s do it algebraically, x^2=4 x^2-4=0 x^2-2^2=0 Using a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b), we get (x+2)(x-2)=0 For the LHS to be zero, either x+2 can be zero or x-2 can be zero. This is because if one of the two is zero, the whole product would be zero as well. (Since 0*Anything=0) Therefore, there are two cases 1) x+2=0 or x=-2 2) x-2=0 or x=+2 Thus, x can be both +2 or -2, ie. x is plus or minus 2. Q.E.D.

    There is an explanation for the negative two if you think about it, though it is not practically applicable everywhere. Suppose you are walking in a 2d plane, where you can either go forwards and backwards. Here, let's take moving forwards is positive and backwards is negative (this is by convention, however you can vice versa the entire thing if you want to take the opposite of the convention and still get your answer). Now, let's assume that for every step taken by a person in one direction, he is pushed in the same direction by the same force he uses to move in that direction. Now, he walks 2 steps forward, and boom, he is now +4 steps ahead. However, if he takes 2 steps backward, he needs to be turned around and pushed with the same force in the opposite direction as 2 steps backward refers to -2, so you get -2*2 which still equals +4 steps forward. Wait no I am confused myself.

    hey , I don't know how you hyped up the idea of basic radicals so much here and how that went to E=mc^2 , but dude , the cinematography was fantastic! This song was just made for edits like this. Aside from the cinematic aspect of this video, well pretty much anything can spark curiosity within our minds and I feel this song (and video) is just the very representation of it. Amazing work, man.

    making mass negative was actually a genius move. what is negative mass, is it existing mathematically? well mass is not a vector quantity if you wanna explore Newtonian physics but in new lines, you can argue anti mass is with anti gravity.

    2^2 = 2 * 2 = 4 -2^2 = -2 * -2 = 4 2 * 2 just doubles 2 so it's 4 -2 * -2 doubles -2 so it's -4, and inverts it so it's 4 so you could write it as 2 * -1 * 2 * -1 = -2 * 2 * -1 = -4 * -1 = 4

    If x^2=4 then x = +2 or x=-2 , but if we consider √ 4 then √ 4=2 .This is because the sign (√ ) is defined to be the prinicipal square root ( the positive one is considered the principal square root) To summarise when solving, x^2 = a^2 (a here can be any number) x= +-√ 4 (this is where you get the two answers)

    The square root of four is not plus or minus 2, but just plus two. That's why the quadratic formula has to specifically mention plus or minus the square root of the discriminant and it's why if you graph the square root of x you'll only have positive y values

    Matter, as we know from the ToGR, is dependent on its motion in space. But what is interesting is that even the rest mass can be dependent on motion along more dimensions than currently considered. Idk what he told me exactly, I didn't understand, but he generalized mass in 5D and n-D space. I'll have to ask him again.

    When we square a negative number it always gives a positive result...such as -2^2 = 4 while 2^2=4 too so when we introduce underoot or squareroot ourselves we put a negative sighn, since there is a possibility of the result being negative and postive

  • @benwerchowsky3536
    @benwerchowsky353621 күн бұрын

    It is different because sqrt(4) is like plugging 4 into the sqrt function which is always positive since negative inputs are not "real". On the other hand, x^2=4 is about a y value for a parabola and since x squared is an even function, it has the y value of 2 for an input of positive and negative 2.

    √x² = |x| ≥ 0 for all real values x (therefore absolute value is always a nonnegative real number) Thus, √4 = 2, no negative A non-constant polynomial p(x) with degree n (the highest power in the expression) has exactly n solutions. This means that x² = 4 has two solutions. It as a polynomial of degree 2, soo it will have 2 solutions thus it can be factored as (x-2)(x+2) = 0 which in this example can be ±2 A polynomial (constant or non-constant) has strictly whole number exponents (n ≥ 0), so √x is not a polynomial because it has a degree of ½, thus it is not a polynomial, but more of a function. Its functionality is that of absolute value, as that is how it is defined, so f(x) = √x can never output a negative for all complex numbers (Real and non-real numbers). The main difference here is the introductory statement. - If the question is x² = 9 where we solve for x, this will have 2 solutions. - If it was “find √9” then its one answer, positive 3 ONLY. - If it was √x = -3, then there is no solution at all, real or complex. - If it was √x = 3, then there would only be one REAL solution within that set of complex solutions.
