I think they are a distributor, Shoukat uses the same stuff (cheaper, but you have to pay shipping from Pakistan), check them out, I'm pretty sure they use the same manufacturing, Shoukat does custom order and deliver pretty fast.

Well shoukat prices are in USD so they come to a similar price or more, depending on jacket. So would be cheaper for Americans to buy this one.

So is Shoukat legit and reliable? Haven't yet met anyone who has gear from them (I'm in Europe) so any intel on them is much appreciated.

@@heirihunziker I completely thought it was a scam site. The social media post and direct messages sound exactly like scams I get. But I do know some people who bought from them, so they are real. I have not, and don't really plan to. Enough stuff in north america and europe

@@superiorhema Thanks for the info - same here, I don't plan on buying anything from Shoukat but I'm surprised to hear it's an actual business that delivers orders considering how they manage to raise just about every red flag one can think of :)

I'm pretty sure this is Superior Fencing gear, the stuff that Shoukat 'broke away' and tried to steal the market from. Given how aggressive Shoukat has been trying to cold-sell everyone I know around these part, I suspect they're feeling the pressure from SupFen getting a deal like this. The sizing chart that I got from Swordshop was directly SupFen's size list. Which is fine, I don't mind SupFen now that they are doing their own thing. Especially in accessible pricing!

I dislike the no padding on the end of the forearm. It assumes a specific type of forearm protection and gloves. Otherwise looks nice. BTW it seems SPES has made an improvement to their standard AP - a student of mine received one and it's now significantly lighter and more mobile

Yes, I specifically like haveing the no padded sleeve like AP light. Thats good to hear, I know there was a point where they made them too stiff and heavy.

kzread.info/dash/bejne/d4dhsc2PZtOdfrw.html AP lights are better in most contexts. But that's why there double the price.

That is a cheap price indeed, even cheaper than SF / Red Dragon gear - will have to look into these new ones for club loaner gear (though shipping from Canada to Europe is probably prohibitively high), anyway thanks for reviewing!

No its not. This is made by Superior fencing, and on their own page is 120$ with any mix of colors and stitching you want. Also you can have it made with foam inserts instead, also for free. Several companies are using supfen to make their jackets. Sword gear ca, black armory, socal etc 🤷😆

I'm between this one and the spes ap plus light 800n. Do you think worth the price difference? Im looking for the lightest and more breathable possible jacket for tournaments.

If you're specific about wanting the most light and breathable jacket than you want an AP Light 350N. 350N is significantly more breathable than 800N. It's what I use. But for what you're asking, they're not really jackets in the same category. One is a light jacket with foam inserts. The other is a "heavy-ish" padded jacket. You would mainly choose this jacket if you're on a budget or a beginner and don't know what you want yet. But if you want a foam insert (light) jacket, then this will not be that. It's just not overly heavy like the old standard APs. There are other jackets like the Colonel and brigadier that are closer to light jackets. There just more expensive.

@@superiorhema I was looking at the supfen Angelo 800n, do you have any thoughts on this one? My major concern is the breathability of it, I've used to have the Spes FG light 350n for comparison.

  • @superiorhema

@@bernardofernandes4955 ok I’ve never used either of those. I believe the Angelo is just padded throughout, but not as heavy padding. (It is identical to the colonel and brigadier jacket. Only real difference is quilting pattern) Again though, 800n has less breathability in the jackets I’ve used both 350 and 800 equivalents. So if your listing breathability as absolute #1 then you want a 350n jacket. But if you’re wanting more padding than your old jacket, or 800n for a reason then AP light for the breathability, and Angelo or others for more padding
