I love the customization in this because even though its difficult you could play the majority of this game without touching the main or dlc characters

this is the best review for disgaea 5 ive come across. there was a nice level of depth to actual in game mechanics without overwhelming a newbie like myself. i just redownloaded the demo and look forward to it now, thanks to your review ^_^

i just downloaded the free trial for a special nintendo online membership thingy and i’ve never played a game like this but i’m actually really enjoying it. i am a liiiittle but confused tho with the game overall cause i’m used to pokémon and animal crossing but honestly i’m playing and making through so hey

I didn’t know you could go to level 9999! That’s truly otherworldly!! I gave this a break but I’m going to get back to it! Thanks!

I'm new to this... What level do you have to reach in order to be strong enough to finish the game first time around? Also why is the dlc not recommended to use first?

Hard to say - I think this one is the most accessible, and has the most features, but it's debatable whether it is actually the "best" entry in the series. Personally, I'd go with this one regardless, but others might disagree.

I tried the trial version on switch today and I just can't get into it. I never liked the field-square attack system (or whatever you call it) if it was regular turn-based , then I would be interested in the series.

I get what you mean. I really wanna like it because I enjoy the fun characters and gorgeous art. It has great music and great character designs. Overall the aesthetics are just off the chart. But the gameplay just keeps turning me off it so hard. I feel like I gotta force myself to play, which is never a good sign. I kinda hope they make a spin off tbh

@SwitchRPG hey man I am between purchasing Dragon Quest 11 and Disgaea 5... Which one would you recommend? I am a casual player looking for some "simple" RPG like these... DQ calls my attention for the simplicity of it, though Disgaea's item level up option also caught my attention. Any suggestions?

If you're looking for simplicity I'd go for DQ 11 over Disgaea 5. But it's only simple in terms of combat whereas Disgaea is a little more strategic. You can't go wrong with either choice, but I lean DQ11. The story is phenomenal. Definitely worth your money.

KingBronzeL I prefer 5 for it feeling a bit more refined and featuring some quality of life improvements over the first game, but both are excellent choices of course.

It's a good thing when the only bad thing is the story. For a video game, the gameplay is what's important, and this game is the best entry in the series in that aspect.

i like how the level cap is 9999, gives it deep gameplay. also like the gameplus mechanic, reset but better. i have my sights on this game now

Im terms of depth and customisation. Its the greatest RPG. Honeslty. Can be overwhelming. Far superior than number 6

I'm not much of a strategy rpg fan. I've tried FF tactics and a few of the fire emblem games, and I just couldn't get into them. This game is on sale right now and I was thinking of picking it up. Would you think I would enjoy it?

Pretty sure "difficulty" is not the intended effect of scaling up enemies. It's more so a tool for exp farming when you find an exploitable map (these are generally intentional).

I asked for some help from our discord community and it's been a mixed bag for THEWY: World Ends With You is a direct port of the DS game. It will also give you arthritis in the fingers and hands It's really not that bad. It has the same issues as the DS game. Without the multitasking. With the extra content. I'd say it's the definitive version of a great game

I have failed.....

The story was lame, but the charm of the characters makes it bearable. Its a very likable cast, so its easy to give the story a pass.

I honestly don't care about story in disgaea. It's all about the gameplay for me, and this one had the best gameplay even to this day.
