How well did this hub work with your TV? I was able to get mine to pair but it didn't work much after that.

That is a good point, I was able to add the TV and most everything worked, except some custom buttons like the netflix and other ones that are on the ROKU remote. But other than that, volume, typing, and navigation worked fine for me.
Can the switchbot work with a motion sensor and turn off a tv if nobody is in the room?

The only way this could work is through a third party app, like IFTTT. Switchbot itself doesn't have a motion sensor to be able to setup that type of automation. So, possible, but you'd have to check if its possible though IFTTT.
Is there a limit how many you can put on it?
