Gerber saw works great at removing fishhooks or even a line guide kinda like a SAK anglers fork ended "fish-scaler tool" if you want to skip or have 'lost' a costly pliers multitool. The Gerber can more easily do work places like Canada with Robertson bits if you travel for work or even live places that use things like hex bits more and more every day. The orange/black rocks

You can reconfigure the Swiss tech so the bit driver is locking. Only takes about ten minutes to swap the tools around and you are good to go.

Big fan of the armbar drive. I would love if Gerber would give that one the love it is showing the two new ones. Honestly, I would give neither of the new ones a second glance because gerber split up the drive and removed one of my most used tools from each model…the scissors and the driver! The Swiss tech is a non starter with the detent.

I'm thinking of buying the Rocktol version of this Swisstech and I did an experiment to see if I could live with the non-locking bit driver by temporarily sabotaging the lock on the same tool, with a paperclip, but found on the Bibury 19-in-1 multitool pliers. In a sense it does lock in all directions except one critical one: the foldaway direction. But knowing this what you do is choke up on the handle and place your thumb against the bit holder on that side, and then you are pretty much good to go, even on tough to rotate screws. That was my impression at least.

One reason they didn't make the bit driver lock is because the knife is actually one handle of their leatherman wave clone. They put the bit driver in place of the plier head and it was cheaper to not change the locking mechanism. Probably better off getting the swiss tech wave clone and modding your own one handed knife with your choice of tools

I really wish the scissors on both were better (the other Armbars). The design makes it easy too cut yourself too. The Gerber go on sale a lot...

Having been in war, flood, earthquake, capsized boats, having been hunted, stranded in an island and suffered landslide. The armbar will work better. Its my experience. In war multitool with a saw, hammer and blade will be usefull. The hammer allows you to attack from behind with relatively no sound and less blood. Hammers and saw will also help make shelters faster not because youd drive nails with em but because you can break a branch faster if you cut halfway through then hit em woth some force.Happened while we were being hunted and had to make cover quick. Screw driver is indispensible. Earthquake, typhoon capsized boats you want that its not locking so you can fit in diffenent tight spaces better. Scissors, well you can use a knife. And its black, you dont wanna be chased by someone at night and have a shiny thing in your hand. Size wise its perfect, trust me during war you will have to go througj a checkpoint at some time and having something you can conceal os great. And having the hammer you can go on the offensive even before taking the knife out. Thqts split second makes a diffetence mind you.

I have the trade, the bit holder not locking isn't a huge problem, it's got a good detent hold and you can choke up on it if you need strength. I just wish the knife was a better steel.

I would have preferred a larger scissor versus a saw on the Swisstech tool. I think scissors are going to be used more often than a saw.

Its one half of a plier tool. Screwdriver doesnt lock because that is where half of the plier head attaches. They just moved the bit driver there. No designing, just Frankensteining. Both tools are half tool shit. Real men carry Surges.
