Oh noes, someone made a $20 decent tool/knife but it's not as good as my overpriced favorite brand I simp for booohoohoo. It's $20 and sufficient for 99% of the adventurers wannabees, you first.
Something to be said about how great SAK's are in dominating their tool area is that there is more customization options avaliable now, too. Now you can get micarta scales or mod them to swap a tool or two. The 3rd party pocket clips, too, add to the value. Great video!
As I recall, I paid around $20 for my Fieldmaster in 1977, while at an arson school in Seattle. Used it for 35 years, still have it. Was just playing with it about 10 minutes ago.

A finishing school for pyromaniacs? Worth every penny I imagine.
While the description says "tool only" it does come with one each of a bi-metal kzread.infoUgkx0vyBwjtx9GGOuiqUVT2sRoYqmDoNT_RI and HCS blade plus an adaptor plate for non-DeWalt blades. Wish I had known that before I bought the blade kit, but oh well. Since I already have a DeWalt drill, charger and batteries there was no need to buy more of those so this was a great deal. There is one other consideration. DeWalt does't sell the depth guide separately so you need to buy the three parts which make it up -- the N275350 block assy, the N275341 metal rod and the N278801 knob. Amazon does sell all three.
I put this tool on a Paracord necklace and carried every day for over a year and still love it.
I recently found your channel and I love everything about this. Thanks for doing all of the work, expense, and sharing this very well though-out breakdown.
Totally agree with your assessments. Victorinox still rules the market because of the criteria you mentioned and the aesthetics or the elegant/streamlined "look" it has. It just feels good on hand compared to the "rough" feel on the other brand. Just plain good engineering. Thanks for the video.
First order from Aliexpress! It’ll be a throwback to the old days when you had to actually wait awhile for things to show up! Also a review of utility knives would be great. Love the Olfa ones made in Japan. Great blades
Of course this is your view point, and thank you for that. In my opinion Leatherman in last 30 years is the best. On the other hand when I fly light I can’t have any knife on me so I make my edc tins with sawing , screw driver and plyers only and here comes Swiss tech. Mini but stronger then victorinox plyers stripped of the rest tools ( only flash light left ) and added hex bit end on other side makes me the minimum on board of the plane. So you’re right about Swiss Tech
Great video. Agree with you about the Screwdriver lock, it would be even better if it had the 90 and 180 degree lock on the screwdriver. I would also add the surge bit adapter thingy for a file and saw. Then add a tweezers in there somehow.
You can install extra bit holder on locking end. And using dremel, I made a 90 degree lock position slit. Then put 6mmx1mm round magnets in the bottom of hex hole. so it accepts wiha double ended bits. you can also use leatherman ratchet extender!
I just picked up the victorinox fisherman for 31.00 what a beautiful sak and I took your advice and I got the swisstool x and there is nothing like the quality of this tool! I have Leathermans and they don't even come close to the feeling of the victorinox, now I see, you have to own one to understand. Your videos are incredible, thanks...

Yea the vic is a lifetime tool
I'm a Victorinox man myself, I wear my Airboss every day(highly recommend). I'll be completely honest. My personal favorite is the Sprit Xbs. I find it's not too heavy and yet feels sturdy and strong. I have Leatherman of all shapes and sizes and a few Sog, don't get me wrong, they all great. I personally just prefer Victorinox products, and like you said, lifetime guarantee. Great video sir
Great vid!! We all know Victorinox is the king on pocket carry ! I do have the nextool and the swiss+tech, and on my case the nextool is better for the applications I have on my every day. The best about edc is that it adjusts to every user differently. Take care and keep it up!!
Another good detailed assessment and opinion of what's out there👍 Im still sticking with my Victorinox One Handed Trekker with an optional pair of small Knipex Cobra pliers in pocket depending on the edc potential needs of the day. I'm just One of those folks that hardly ever needs a set of pliers when I don't already have a substantial tool kit with me so I don't often carry a pair of pliers on body for edc.

There’s one word associated with victorinox and knipex also leatherman that word is stolen.
I just got my SwissTech and outside of the issues, it's exactly what I needed. My scissors are bent a little making the spring bar slip off and making it harder to close. The main blade rubs when closing too. I sent the Ali retailer a message and will see what they want to do. Hopefully it's just this one. Seems like it was crushed a little or something.
Looks like a damn close copy of one side of the Ozark trail multiforce. Only difference is instead of the redundant flat head on the multi force, they put in a pull cutter.
I ordered 3 of them right after watching your video. They arrived yesterday. I had intended to use them for Christmas presents. Took one to work today only to find the assembly is much too tight. I tried to loosen it up but stripped a couple of screw heads. Seems like a T9 size with a ridiculous amount of locktite. I haven’t been able to loosen the knife/saw side: impossible to deploy one handed. Hopefully the other two are better assembled. Really love the scales compared to the modded Multiforce.
Enjoyed this very much. Thanks. Excellent analysis.
No matter what comes out I'll always love the original red Swiss Army Knife.

I may very well try out this Swiss Tech. I was disappointed with the G Armbar, really bad quality. (Being both a LM and Victorinox guy, whilst always looking for another alternative).
For me the perfect sak is the Swisstool, same quality, locking tools and a clip, comes also with oho blades for those that need them. Its heavy but the clip negates that almost perfectly. I think to compete with Victorinox is almost impossible, i got a 83 years old Victorinox and that still works fine but if it didnt they would fix that for me no questions asked.
I just got the swisstech and agree with your review. Also the one you said is too heavy and doesn't have a bit driver is now available with a phillips that can accept the bit adapter and 1/4" bits. I prefer it's scissors to the swisstech but they don't have a point so I've actually ground mine to a point
Alox farmer with a titanium pocket clip on the ring (this makes is suspended = goodness). Benchmade 710 in the other pocket, Olight S20 in the 3rd and signal in the bag, raptor + cat tourniquet + israeli bandage on the side of the bag. This setup is pretty stable for years, I still use proper tools when possible, but most of the time it's faster just to tinker with a multitool and get things done without moving, without delay. It's all a question of lazyness. This SWISS TECH 11 in 1 is an interesting proposition.
I love my Victorinox SAKs because they are so adaptable. Swiss+Tech's latest multitools all have the locking feature and while their finish is very good, nothing beats the versatility of SAKs which I've used all my life, and in my medical job. Nothing beats high quality. It lasts far longer.
Purchased. It looks really great. I'll swap out the sides when I get it. Thanks!

Hi been subscribed for a while now, really like you honesty and flashlight videos. Bought the SwissTech multitool after watching this video planning to modify it. After I ordered one I saw your short video that it can't be modded as you thought it could. A shame but still looked like a nice budget option. Upon receiving it the drama started though, the clip was a bit loose so went out and got 2 torx 8 drivers to fasten it. Only to find out that the screws immediately stripped on tightening, because they already drove it in slightly at an angle, pre damaging the threads. The Ali express buyer doesn't even respond to my complaint. And now I have the issue I found a lot of other people on this and other videos having issues with quality. I really think its not a product you can stand behind seeing al the issues. Just wanted to let you know since I really enjoy your videos and value your opinions. keep up the good work! This Swiss Tech 11-in-1 is like one half of the 17-in-1 pliers-based MT. The only difference is the bit driver versus Phillips and flat head s/driver at one end. I'm going to split my 17-in-1 to make a SAK-type knife.
turns the handle 90 degrees to the driver gets your more torque on the bit you use.
Very good tool! Just an insane idea... but the washers on the sides on the bit driver... could be replaced by the small flat head scredriver? What I don't get is why don't victorinox make 1 handed opening tools for the US market? In Germany we need to have two handed (if it's locking). It's a must. Even leatherman made a 2h wave version which I assume is focused on the european market. So it would just make sense for victorinox to do the same for the US market. Especially considering one of their partners, Felix Immler, already made a video on how to make a 1 hand opening mod.

1. The 111mm and 130mm series is both (mostly) one handed and locking. 2. Victorinox starts as an European company and they verge towards European market. European knife laws are very restricted and it would be extremely stupid, from them, to complicate their business model (which relies on industrial stamping sheets tool that can be sold extremely affordable but still being made in Europe, which is a huge plus for the whole world market since European “made in” is a guarantee stamp, even renowned like the Italian one (DOCs and such)) and it would be stupid since they would not sell in Europe, Asia and Australia/NZ as much as their other models. That’s why.

wierd...I live in VA, why would it not work...so strange.
Would rather have a metal file instead of a saw as well as what you said...
Can you please test whether this bit adapter would also fit your maerd? Regards!

Did u ever get to handle one of the Texas tool crafters custom leathermans? I kickmyself for not purchasing one before they were sued out of existence. The gold and ironwood models they did were works of art

@@maxlvledc no worries, thank you.
Another video where I get enthusiasm about a cheap, good for starters, best value multitool...and of course I'm left empty handed as: not available anymore or it is not 20 but 40 USD, or it is available on Amazon, which means 27% taxes (welcome to Hungary :)) and around 12 % customs. And sometimes the video is 3 months old, not 1.5 years as this one. I start to see a pattern here. :(
Sighs... Just found about about you....missed out on the g10 Leatherman now this swiss tech 11 in 1 won't even ship to us anymore on Ali can't even get it😢😢😢😢
