Children actually learn Standard German first from the media. Their accent is usually better before they start school; in school they acquire the typical Swiss accent...

When you are nativ swiss speaker it is easier lo learn standard german later, especially as a child. But as a foreign adult this is quite hard. My mother is from France and she learnd both languages at the same time. She mixes things up until today... 🙃

Gutes Video!

why do you speak american english? since you are european i would expect that you would speak british english and that would be taught in schools and elsewhere. but i also know american media is a very large influence in many parts of europe and can ultimately be a bigger influence than learning british english in school. and that in even some parts of africa even though they learn british english in schools all the american media they have now can really make a big difference. i'm curious how you ended up speaking english with an american accent.

I can adapt to the person I'm speaking to. But I need to hear it in order to switch to British English. I’ve actually spent the majority of my childhood summer holidays in the UK as my godmother used to live in Oxford. In school, they would teach the British spelling but none of my teachers were English native speakers (all of them were German). In my videos, I naturally lean towards American English because that’s what I’m immersed to for the most part through nowadays media and also my years of living as an expat abroad. Hope this answers your question ☺️
