Swiss Army Watch Battery Replacement
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This video shows how I replace the battery on my Swiss Army Watch. I took my watch to 3 different stores to get the battery replaced but they could not do it. One place damaged the plastic housing. I decided to do it myself. The battery size is 394.

Good for you man you deserve it
I couldn’t open my SA watch (same one as yours, by the looks of it) and I took it to 3 different “watchmakers” to no avail. I tried everything. Battery died 3-4 years ago. I found your video today and tried it out and it worked! And no damage. This is one tough field watch! Thanks for your video!
I couldn't get my Swiss Army watch back open til I saw your video. The clamp worked perfectly. Very ingenious. Thanks a lot!
I took it to a watch repairer and a high end watch dealer ...nup the couldn't do it...and then there is you ..with your clamp and knife. Man im happy now i have my old watch up and running...nice one pal..cheers..👍same watch it will last forever
So glad I found your video! My grandson found one just like yours in the video in the house his parents bought in an estate sale. I've changed batteries on cheap watches many times, but had no clue with this one. Thank you so much. This helps tremendously!
Success ! I have this same Swiss Army Calvary watch and the notch is at the 12 O'CLOCK position ! I could barely see it even with a loupe but it's there. I could feel it catch with a pairing knife. Couldn't get it with hand pressure so I found my tiny Dewalt mini clamp with the plastic holding plates like yours, folded a microfiber towel, positioned it to where 12 O'CLOCK was accessable, put on my gloves, positioned the blade where I could feel it catch and gave it two gentle taps with a rubber mallet. It seperated easily. Once I get the battery I will use that same clamp with a couple of plastic bottle caps sized accordingly to gently squeeze the case back in. I will line up the word (ARMY) with twelve O'CLOCK before pressing back in; just as it was from the factory.Thank you! You saved me $$ money. I haven't had it running since 1995.
Of all the videos posted on the removal of back and replacing the battery. Your method seems the most practical to me. The Swiss Army / Marlboro watch case is extremely stubborn!!!!!! Thank you, I will give it a try.
Thanks for this video! Your process worked perfectly for my SA which looked exactly like yours. I thought it was a screw on and tried various Jewlers tools to get it unscrewed but never worked so ended up taking it to the mall for new battery.
I actually tried this, but without the clamp and it worked perfect. Then I put the caseback back on it and tapped with the hammer to pop it back in. No damage whatsoever. I wouldn't dare try this to other watches ,but my 25 year old Swiss Army watch is indestructible!
I use the blade of my pocket knife to get under the lip of the back cover. And then with a gentle twist of the knife, the back pops open. As for snapping it back on, I just press really hard with my thumbs. But thanks for the battery size info...that's what I was looking for. Thanks.
Worked perfectly. No issues and no blood.
Thanks man. No idea why this video has any dislikes. Morons I guess. Did this on my 90's Swiss army watch that I've had since I was a kid. Easy. Worked perfectly. Thanks man. Watch is back running and I'll be rocking it once again. Cheers
Well laugh or not but its working that's for sure. Just replace a battery in my wife watch with same technique. Its differently creative thinking .
Thank you so much it worked out exactly like you said save me a lot of pain
It works!
this helped a'lot thanks for posting
this worked. thank you!
Thank you very much, I have one of these and I couldn't open it to change the battery
Really, what watchmaker school did you get this from. You are a genius my friend. Keep it coming I haven't laugh this hard in a long time.

getajobfatboy if you don’t own that exact watch don’t judge. This back has no notch and it doesn’t unscrew. I worked at a jeweler and this worked
I have the same watch. It stopped at 5:43. Lmao
Yeah its a tough one.. now it uses a weird ass size… 394… lord
genius. you saved me a trip to the way overpriced jeweler.
Heys! What is the make/ model of this?

Very subtle.
Please DON'T do this you do not need to use a hammer to open a snap on case back you are most likely going to damage the case. Do not use this type of clamp or vice to close the case as you will break the glass which is usually protruding above the bezel/case.

@Thomas casidy First of all I'm no Liberal or asshole secondly he has got away with not damaging his watch so far, as a professional watch repairer I was just pointing out the error of his ways, I have lost count of the number of watches coming across my bench with broken glass and damaged backs due to people trying to be clever. Yes his method has worked but he is taking a big risk of damaging his timepiece and the damage could be very expensive.
Too many haters commenting. Good thinking if you don't want to buy tools or get "serviced" by professional. For inexpensive watch. DIY
I believe this watch needs a better design for replacement of battery.
Wow seems harmful to the back but hey you did it
cannot stop laughing! i noticed the tip was broken on your knife, what else you been tinkering with? a ladies watch? lol!
as far as i know, they twist the case to open, not by splitting it that way..

This one obviously is press fit. Mine is the same. Some others are threaded. This one looks mine.
A HAMMER???
Show me how to change my motor oil.
whatta joke! no thanks.
21 years in the jewelry industry. That’s a great way to damage a watch. Use the proper tools to remove the case back.
