People make fun of the Swiss for staying neutral in WW2, but if you open a history book and look at the history of Switzerland, you will not find a more ruthless, respected, and aggressive army than the Swiss.They're definitely someone you want on your side.

Swiss Neutrality doesn't mean we dont like to fight. In fact, we're natural born warriors. We are neutral though, because we don't want to fight for anyone else but ourselves. No overlord, no majesty. The true Free Citizen Militia of Switzerland aka the Swiss armed forces.

And in the present day, it does not mean we are afraid of war or fights, it means we stay out of other countries wars/military efforts. And this became part of our modern identity. No EU, no NATO.

My girlfriends father (they're Israeli) told her, that I'm a stupid guy to join the army. Little did he know that it is mandatory. Anyway I went to the Mechanized Infantry. Free license for bigger vehicles, huge Machine Gun and get to do pretty cool stuff

​@@Linkario86were you stationed in Thun? I got the chance to visit the tank museum there last year and it was fascinating! I was also fortunate enough to participate at a local shooting club nearby. Aiming 300 meters uphill with iron sights was far different than I am used to, but I managed to hit the target with all 30 bullets across 3 different rifles (Stg 90, stg 57, and K31). ❤ From Texas!

There’s plenty of info on secret Swiss military bases in mountains and how they defend the country. Super crazy stuff might be interesting for a video. There’s a mountain near where I live in an area called Airolo that is completely hollowed out and has a full underground city inside of it. Can fit 140% of the population in the state it’s located in. Full airport, medical center, movie theater all kinds of wild stuff hidden in the Swiss mountains very little people know about. Would love to see a video on that! Amazing video

@Aqua_ man yeah well not empty empty obviously I mean they have to end of levels and pathways not quite sure. But 100% on the 140 number for population. Each state has one in Switzerland that can have bit numbers ticino has a big base locate at the southern entrance to the alps. Strategic choice. So all the valley floor population can retreat into the mountains. Hence the size. Plus it accounts for 40% of population not being registered and tourists or visiting. The Swiss army has done some crazy shit. A whole bunch of old school paranoid generals hahaha allot of stories from friends that served in those places (obligatory military for all males 300 days days )

the big advantage of swiss armed forces is its militia system, where many swiss men take part. So in many house holds is a rifle stocked. disadvantage is that not everyone is a professional.

True, but there is a good chance that in a "normal infantry company", you have 4-5 mechanics or precision machinists, a couple of nurses, 3-5 carpenters, 1-2 forest service employees or lumberjacks, blacksmiths, psychologists and other various professions that can be really useful in the field. Basically an average swiss military company exchange specialized military knowledge for a wide and deep pool of various skills.
