Hello ErnGolf, my name is Dashawn, I have been playing for 15 years and I can’t even break 80. I am so inspired to watch you progression in golf. I wish I could one day have a round of gold with you one day. I am not as good as you but I still have fun playing. I have learned a lot watching you. But I still can’t break 90. My current location is Michigan, I would like to come play a round with you someday. You keep playing and making nice Vedic’s.

Out of all of the difficult things it takes to become a scratch golfer, acquiring speed is probably the easiest part. With enough discipline and hard work you'll get it.

I'm a scratch. I can swing 110 to 112, but i play mostly at 106 to 108. 106 is plenty fast enough to be a scratch. It's not fast enough to be a playing pro, but scratch is a long way from pro. I gain 2 shots on a scratch tee to green and lose 2 putting. I guarantee there are lots of scratch scratch golfers who swing around 100. It's a good idea to get stronger and work on speed, the more speed the better. But don't think you are way off and don't.let it be the be all and end all.

Good analysis at the end. You're doing the right thing. I like the golf fitness route you are taking. You'll get there. I spent the time one season to get to lower single digits....the bad news...after another season being busy with other things and not a lot of golf, it goes just as fast. Then I had to be careful to not get discouraged because I know I "could have shot lower." I've learned to accept a happy median of a slightly higher handicap but a little less practice.

@@ErndogGolf Spending to much time with driver trying to build up speed. Tried Bryson swing type. It built up speed but doing it every day wasn't a good idea. Not only that last year is when I started playing again after 15 year break. The tear happened when I went to practice chipping. Just that little chip shot and "rip". Just glad it didn't happen when swinging the driver. Felt like tearing a rib off your bbq ribs. lol

The swing speed protocols I am aware of all encourage relatively few absolute maximum efforts with a couple of days of rest between workouts. Look at Sasho Mackenzie's Stack system. It's very sophisticated and adjusts to your progress as you work. The changes from speed work are neurological and biological and take place over time. It's not like strength work where more is better. Good luck as you work on speed. It will happen over time. Don't expect it to happen in a few workouts.

I think its important to have a speed number goal, but in that heat it probably wasnt the best to keep going as you said. But to keep hitting the 105-106 number consistently is still a good sign. Keep up the good work.

First off speed will not change a 3 handicap to a scratch, just and fyi looking at ur transition, you lose width makes ur radius close to your body. If you can maintain that width you’ll see big speed

In terms of swinging the club faster without a ball vs with the ball, I would assume that has something to do with the club head being slowed down by hitting the ball when it's there.

  • @ErndogGolf

Ahh that makes sense! I do think the prgr captures the speed as it swings through, so that makes a ton of sense. Thanks!

Do the super speed system as it recommends! They’ve put a tonne of work into building programs that work. Trust it. For example doing the left handed swings - teaches you to brace faster which translates massively into the swing.

Also, the massive difference you’re seeing in club head speed vs distance might mean you’re getting energy into the club too late… you gotta get it into the club head by impact. Again, this is where the training protocols will include drills that address this.

  • @PJo336

Man there is something holding you back with driver with or without the ball. 87 with a 9 iron is crazy good. Mine is like 77-79 and I’m around 101-102 on driver. My driver pr is 109 but I’ve never figured out how I did that 😂

Speed will come just from working out. You're a fit but kinda thin guy, and generally speed will come from core, legs, and shoulders. Agreed, don't keep swinging after you've developed blisters, itll effect your ability to play the rest of that week, if not longer.
