Was toying with the idea of an Opus camping trailer, but you get a solid roof and more for your money with this for sure (and a proper toilet/shower). Seem to be some good nearly new bargains around too these days...

Hi - Yes its worth looking around as their are more bargains to be had - the Base Camp is a popular tourer and comes with decent spec but used ones are landing on forecourts and so as I say look for some discounted prices by some dealerships - The Opus is a lot of cash and its basically a folding camper - let me know how you get on

Caravan expert. Mmmm Swift changed to Whale heating in 2018, it’s a tracker keypad there is no alarm, the Basecamp 4 is 19” longer than the Basecamp 2.

Yes noted the change - its cheaper and Swift didnt tell me it was longer but it did feel a lot more spacious. Yes said alarm in error this was done as show was closing and guy ready to throw me out so had to be sharpish- thanks for noting!

The fourth berth is longer than the two berth.

Didnt have the spec sheet and Swift never said to be honest though it did feel more spacious!

I'm a solo traveller and this van's perfect for me. However no microwave is an annoyance.

John its a great tourer and its UK built to - microwave is cheap to buy though but should be part of the kit

@@johnmatthews3990 well glad to have been of help - I did that review as the Show shut and had no brief - some reviews had far more time and info - but I always liked the idea of Base camp and right at the start my question was a 4 berth had to follow soon -would be good to have a basic version at cheaper cost and lighter weight - but have a good retirement and I am sure you will love a Base Camp ! Are the beds at the front still the same dimension as the original version or does your reference to ‘a shorter front end’ mean they’re shorter?

You never mentioned underbed storage for bedding etc, - is there any or is it just an open space?

Arthur Gaskell open space because the seats can fold up to create a huge storage space at the front so presumably you’d want some sort of bag to protect your bedding during the day...

4 Berth is 50cm longer than 2 berth. Otherwise helpful review thanks.

need to know kerb weight and towing limit so need model and engine

Sorry guys looks to me like you have wasted some of the features I loved.the long beds were great on your own without having to make up big bed and great for lazing around in during the day. dont see the advantage in table and chair in a small van,seems gimmicky the stand alone table is great inside and outside everything else is same. Maybe because I am in love with model I have but some of the aesthetic appeal has gone ,sorry prefer old modelI truly thought you had it licked with that one.
