Tears in my eyes thinking of my Grandmother in Knoxville who actually picked the sweet potatoes from her garden, made this often and it was so sweet like a custard ..so delicious thank you

Absolutely, yummy. I used this recipe for Thanksgiving...and received rave reviews, it was so good! And the marshmallows add a carmel sticky yummy topping. Just a tip though, I use a time saving trick I learned from my sister. I bake the sweet potatoes rather than PEEL, CUBE AND BOIL. Baking the sweet potatoes is the easiest way to peel them and saves so much time.

Hi AB, my husband’s family comes from Virginia and Maryland. I got his mom‘s recipe for sweet potato pie which is very close to your recipe. The only real difference if I don’t use nutmeg ,and use whipped cream instead of marshmallows. Your family is lucky! You do it all, cooking,bbqing and baking. Be well.

AB YOU HAVE DONE IT AGAIN! Just made this pie 🥧 it came out SPECTACULAR! I didn’t do the marshmallow topping just followed the recipe! Y’all don’t worry if you don’t have a fancy mixer I used a whisk and some elbow grease and before I knew it I blinked and the pie was eaten up so quick! 10/10 would recommend

@@arandaholley1719 Sweet potatoes originated in South America - it wasn't until Europeans came in the 1500s that sweet potatoes were spread to the rest of the world. Interesting that they gained a foothold in Africa to become a traditional pie. I'm interested to know what part of Africa - it's such a huge continent - could you pinpoint where for me so I can research this farther?
