I love seeing Lou like this in interviews. He was genuinely content being around people that sincerely appreciated his works as opposed to the vicious journalism that many reporters used him for solely to get money. Here, he’s just doing what he loves and can instinctively do it his best.. Rest peacefully, Lou. You were a true genius and legend.

There's a professional authenticity to it. I can play pretty good myself but playing the same thing just doesn't sound like that when I do it.

This video is DEMONSTRATEs how cool guy Lou Reed is. Legend.

My ear always caught that B minor chord in the progression. Such a clever little riff. I call that a “transfer” chord because it “transfers” you from one part of the riff to the second part of the riff. Lou RULEZ.

God is in the details. RIP Lou.

They were rated on the top by me and my dope shooting buddies when the banana album came out. Of course most people had never heard of them back then around here because it’s the Deep South.

yeah Lou is some guy you feel you knew, saw him in SanDiego, mid 80's downtown civic arena.. I thank Lou (sadly missed) for clarifying the sweet Jane riff, as usual I had it wrong, I don't know, it's just so nice to know just how Lou played it. Isn't that the way it is, star power, it could be played many ways, but when it comes to your fav dudes, you want to do it just like them , exactly , probably some weird pyschology behind that

I saw Lou Reed in Wellington New Zealand in 1974 and absolutely loved Sweet Jane from Rock n Roll Animal. Lou opened the show with a brilliant version of Sweet Jane, as close as you can get to the dlbum version including the intro. However, I saw the Paris 74 version of Sweet Jane which was ruined by the keyboards in the forefront. Is there a video of Sweet Jane that is similar to the RnR animal version?

But there's only a 'secret chord' (or chords) when Lou Reed would play it that way. There are a number of versions of the song where he played just the three chords. I think I like them all, personally - though maybe the three chord version on the Live 1969 album is my favourite.

We miss you Lou!!!

Thinking back to so long ago, I liked Velvet Underground's version well enough but then Mott the Hoople and Lou Reed Live gave it the harder sound I gravitated toward at that time. Didn't care for Cowboy Junkies cover. Then a few years ago a bluegrass version showed up in a KZread recommended video of a band fronted by Chuck Prophet and, for some reason, I seem to like that version the best.

As soon as I saw Elvis I knew this would be nice Lou. I used to think he was an arse hole, and maybe in some ways he was, but most of his viciousness was aimed at the media and journalists, and frankly as someone who hates these leeches (there are exceptions), he is now one of those heroes that exist in my pipe dream of making music for a living.
