Sweet cornbread recipe from scratch
In this video, I will show you how I make my cornbread form scratch. This recipe brings a little extra sweet to compliment and offset spicy dishes. Served as a side or all alone with melted butter, this sweet cornbread recipe is one to add to your cookbook.
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup cornmeal
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 large egg
1 1/4 cup milk. Add in 3 separate parts
3 tbsp unsalted butter melted
Bake on 400 degrees for about 28 minutes
Maybe less time depending on your oven

10/15/23: OMG, Kita, this recipe was so yummy, moist and flavorful; what a crowd pleaser! I paired it with Chili beans & ground beef, and they complimented each other very well. Never used jiffy, I’d always use Martha white yellow cornbread mix. That never worked out for me really. I’ve been searching for a recipe from scratch and I finally found one!! This was sooooo good! My husband loved it! Thank you Ms. Kita!!!!

First time making cornbread from scratch and I just followed every step and currently waiting on it . I’m excited to see how it will taste ❤ Edit: we just finished eating and my husband and 3 year old son loved it also did I only difference is I didn’t have unsalted butter so I used salted and on a 9x9 pan at 400 degrees for 28 min and came out perfect thank you for this recipe it will be my go to now 🥰🫶🏻✨😊

Good afternoon...I was looking forca cornbread recipe from scratch and I found yours...I am trying it today and it smells absolutely delicious in the oven. Can't wait until it is done. Hey, I think this is the cornbread recipe I was looking for. Simple, straight forward and no corn to mess with. I do think I’m going to make it in a cast iron pan, I love crispy edges. I do wish you included a recipe I could print, and lastly, your a pretty girl , and a nice smile at the end would be appreciated too.

Thank you, came out great on the 1st try. i did use wheat flower and sifted of the grains and raised it from 1 cup to 1 1/4 cup because of the grains that don't sift through...

This recipe works great with my Bread Machine (Zojirushi), substituted half of the sugar with Splenda (12 packets). Thanks, tasted great!

Thank u sooo very much for the recipe... I only did one thing different instead of using butter I used a little under 1/3 of a cup of vegetable oil... An it was amazing... I'm talking moist an fluffy... My family loved it...❤😋🙋🏾♀️

I wanna say thank for sharing your recipe. I tried this today and it came out perfect and taste good. I adjusted the temp to 390 for the last 12 minutes then then I keep on brushing unsalted butter when it's almost cook.

And this may sound strange but I like to eat the last few squares when they get a little hard and what I do is heat it up just a few seconds in the microwave and put jam and butter on it to have with my morning coffee 😊…thanks again God Bless ….Brian

Can I use fine yellow cornmeal? Also can I use bread flour instead? I also don't want it too sweet. Can i use 1/2 C Sugar? This looks delicious. Lol I don't mean to change up the recipe. It's what I have and don't want it to sweet like cake.

For the milk measurement is it 1 1/4 each time of is that the total divided into 3?
