Swedish ship Götheborg - Full Broadside Salute
Sitting about 200 meters downrange of the 6-pounder cannons carried by The Swedish Ship Götheborg of The Swedish East India Company, SOIC(Svenska Ostindiska Companiet), as she fires a farewell gun salute broadside in Lidköping harbour during a tour of the great swedish lake Vänern.
She is a replica of an 18th century Indiaman constructed using historic construction methods.

Sitter ungefär 200 meter rakt framför ett batteri 6-pund kanoner som finns ombord Ostindiefararen Götheborg, som tillhör det Svenska Ostindiska Companiet SOIC, samtidigt som hon skjuter salut med hela sin bredsida i Lidköping hamn under hennes Vänern turné.

It's a trading ship, not a military one. That's why it only has 6 defensive guns.

It was an east Indianaman well the original was, so only has 10 guns in total.

Yes the gotheburg was a merchant vessel, similar to the British indiaman vessels. They only carried light armament for self defence, some only had 6 guns all together rather than the 12 here. Reason being They were often protected by an escort who had main armaments of a more substantial size
It's nice but it's not HMS Victory

Perhaps not, but unlike Victory these are real working guns and not just pyrotechnic charges that simulate cannon fire. :)

@@alexraptor7137 so could you actually live fire them? Could you load up a cannon ball or some chain shot and blast it down range? Or would the gun just explode?

+Anduril Narsil Actually it is. A broadside in the classic sense is defined as the side of a ship above the waterline, as well as a side battery of guns. To fire a full broadside means to fire off all guns on one side of the ship. The term can also be used to refer to, but is not synonymous with, the simultaneous firing of all the guns on one side.

You just contradicted yourself by saying twice “simultaneously firing all guns on one side of the ship” being those above the water line’ ......(obviously) so agreeing with him.....anyways he’s right in the technical sense that this would not be a naval definition of a full side broadside, which would be commanded as such “ port” or starboard” full broadside.

To be historically accurate in the 18th linear type of naval warfare it was always fought broadside until Nelson started changing the naval strategy in 1802, a captain one said “one can do no wrong as long he puts his ship along side that of his enemy “
